Jacob Harry “Jake” Tagert, of Bogalusa, Louisiana, passed away at his home on Friday, February 14, 2020. He was born in Columbia, Mississippi and has been a resident of Bogalusa for the past 40 years. Jake served in the United States Air Force for six years and continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard for 28 years until his retirement in 2000. He was a simple man who found great enjoyment in gardening, woodworking, and “tinkering” in his shop repairing lawnmowers. He was also a Mason and was active in the Masonic Lodge in Bogalusa. He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Gladys Tagert; four sisters, Louise Broome, Vera Broome, Betty Abene, and Chrystelle Williamson; and three brothers, Dennis Tagert, Ronnie Tagert, and Greg Tagert. Jake is survived by his wife, Audrey E. Tagert; three sons, Jay Tagert and wife, Chun Ling, Aadron Tagert and wife, Pamela, and Bradley Tagert and wife, Wendy; three step-daughters, Donna Morris, Tina Palmer and husband, Tim, and Tracy Smith and spouse, Carl; three step-sons, Johnny Morris and wife, Lesa, Michael Morris and wife, Glenda, and Brandon Morris and wife, Jodi; three sisters, Alberta Martin Robertson, Jonnye Skeen, and Patty Spiers; a brother, Kerry Tagert and wife, Ruthie; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The visitation for Jake will be at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mississippi from 5:00pm until 9:00pm on Sunday, February 16, 2020. The funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Monday, February 17, 2020 in the funeral home chapel officiated by Reverend Michael Thomas. Burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
