David Calvin Robbins, age 73 of Columbia, MS passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Marion General Hospital in Columbia. He was a member of Bunker Hill Baptist Church and a Master Mason at Carley Lodge # 562.
David was a founding member of Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, serving the community for nearly four decades from March 1974 until his retirement in December 2013. Throughout those years, he served in a variety of roles including Secretary Treasurer, President, Vice President, Assistant Chief, and Board Member. As he neared retirement, he continued to serve as a mentor, sharing his years of knowledge and experience with the next generation of firefighters.
Mr. Robbins was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Lynn Robbins; his parents, Jack "JC" Robbins and Myrtis Faye King Robbins; and sisters, Edith Caul and Rita Crain. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lynn Robbins; his daughter Elizabeth Edwards (Micheal); his son, Brian Robbins (Ashley); a sister, Wanda Grice (Jiles); a brother, Dennis Robbins (Gwen); and four grandchildren, Landon Edwards, Sophia Lynn Robbins, Holden Edwards, and Ava Edwards.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Bunker Hill Baptist Church where family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until service time. Dr. Gary Roberson will officiate and burial will follow at New Bunker Hill Cemetery assisted by Brent Robbins, Stevie Hicks, Tyson Hicks, Dewayne Stuckey, Rodney Robertson, and Dr. Bill Lawrence as pallbearers.
