Charles R. “Charlie” Harrison, Sr., of Columbia , Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the age of 82. He was born in Columbia to Vernon and Sylivia Harrison, spent most of his childhood in Texas, and returned to Columbia as a young adult. Charlie was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He worked many years for Orleans Furniture and retired in 2005. Charlie was an excellent musician who could play most any instrument that he picked up and play it well. He was a huge fan of Bluegrass music and attended, as well as participated in, many Bluegrass music festivals over the years. Charlie enjoyed talking to people and never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor, was an excellent storyteller, and will be remembered for his infectious laughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Harrison; a brother, John Harrison; and a nephew Terry. Charlie is survived by a daughter, Kim Miller (Shane); two sons, Charles R. “Chuck” Harrison, Jr. and Andy Harrison (Stephanie); a brother, George Harrison; six grandchildren, Rebecka Gandy (Jonathan), Casey Butler, Tyler Harrison (Elvia), Colby Beech, Dylan Miller, and Morgan Miller; three great-grandchildren, Aubree Gandy, Maci Gandy, and Brody Gandy; two nephews, Raymond “Tater” Rowell (Michelle) and Rusty Rowell (Ashley); a great-niece, Kendall Rowell; and three great-nephews, Taylor Rowell (Kourtney), Ty Rowell (Hope), and Kolin Rowell
The funeral services for Charlie will be private.
