Thomas was born in Adair County, Mo. on November 10, 1924 to Walter S. Davison Sr. and Mary C. Umbarger. He graduated from Kirksville High School and attended the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. On November 5, 1943 he enlisted in the US Army, trained as an aircraft gunner and received his wings the following April. He flew 50 missions in Europe as an Army Air Corp B-17 bomber ball turret gunner and honorably discharged in 1946. On December 14, 1946 Thomas married Velda Maxine Buress. Thomas dairy farmed in Adair Co. until 1960 then became a herdsman in the Animal Science Department of the University of Missouri Columbia, retiring in 1986.
He is survived by sons, Alan (Sandra) Davison and William (Mary) Davison; 6 grandchildren, Chad Davison (fiancé, Melissa McCoin), Brian (Jeanine) Davison, Thomas (Laura) Davison, Laura (Jeffrey) Davison, Shawn (Ai) Davison, and Ian (Julianne) Davison; 4 great grandchildren, Drew, Leah, Henry and Emmett Davison; his sister, Mary Slawson; and brother Walter S. Davison Jr. and many nieces and nephews. Sisters, Faye Perry, Margaret Christianson and Rosalee Coy as well as his parents preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart or American Kidney Foundations.
