She is predeceased by her father John Sanders, mother Lizzie Bell Allen Maze Sanders, half-sister Rosie Marie Maze Jewett and sister Dorothy Louise Sanders Asbell. She is also survived by her husband Howard Leroy Flohra; sons Gerald Lee Flohra, wife Cecelia, and Duane Eugene Flohra; three grandchildren Lisa Marie, Amy Catherine and Jessica Collier; three great-grandchildren Irelynn, Jesse and Stormy.
Rita and her husband, Howard were married for 70 years. They lived in Kansas City MO, Washington DC and Honolulu for many years. She enjoyed bowling, tennis, traveling and playing games with her family. Rita was a member of the WIBC (Women’s Int’l Bowling Congress) for over 50 years and bowled in 26 National Tournaments across the country. She played tennis with the FAA wives in Hawaii and enjoyed following the professional tennis players on TV. Rita traveled extensively with Howard to the Philippines, American Samoa, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, France and Switzerland. In 1995 they moved to Las Vegas, NV where they enjoyed many peaceful years. In February of 2015, they left Las Vegas and moved to Columbia, MO to be close to their son Gerald Lee and his family.
Services to be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Columbia, MO 65202. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
