Joseph Wayne Montague, 72, of Columbia passed away at University Hospital on Saturday, August 7, 2021. A visitation will take place from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 12, 2021. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am Friday August 13, 2021. Both will be held at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joseph was born on August 10, 1948 in Vandalia, Missouri, one of the ten children born of James Montague and Mildred Faye (Fox) Montague. In 1972, in Paris, Missouri he was united in marriage to Judy (Howell) Montague, who survives.
Joseph was a proud union sheet metal worker throughout his life. He also enjoyed tending to his farm. He was an avid deer hunter and he enjoyed camping. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Judy; his three children, Kellie Williams (Martin Asher), Kristina Montague (Jason King), and Kevin Montague (Heather); ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; six siblings, Betty Aston, Wanda Kirtlink, James “JD” Montague, Wilda Gregg, Doris Phillips (Charlie), and Derril Montague; as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Evelyn Beatty, Wilma Montague, and John Montague.
