Elizabeth (Betty) BonDurant Rogers, 93, of Columbia, passed away December 27, 2023. Betty was born October 11,1930, Cleveland, Ohio, to Agnes (Lang) and Walter H. BonDurant. Graduate of the Marywood School in Evanston, Illinois. Received a B.S. degree from Northwestern University and an M.A. from Wellesley College.
Taught English at Ferry Hall, Lake Forest, Illinois, and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Married Marlin N. Rogers on December 29, 1956, in White Plains, New York. In college, was a member of Pi Lambda Theta and Kappa Delta. Instrumental in establishing the Epsilon Iota Chapter of Kappa Delta on the UMC campus.
Member of Fortnightly Club and Grace Circle of King’s Daughters.
Charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Served as lector and communion minister, member of the parish council, and as a sponsor for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Served as a member of the Board of Directors of the King’s Daughters Home in Mexico, Missouri, and as president of the Board of Directors of the Voluntary Action Center.
An extensive world traveler, an active and beloved member of the community. Hosted several dinner parties and social gatherings for friends and neighbors. Participated in Wine Club, Book Club, Bridge Group, Needle Crafters, Gourmet Cooking, Health Connection, YMCA, and many more.
Survivors include her son, Michael J. Rogers of Columbia; grandchildren Jenny Cave of Hazelwood, Jennifer, Walter, and Paige Rogers of Hallsville; Danielle Hart of St. Louis; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her parents and a daughter, Mary Ellen Rogers-Hart.
