Edward (Ed) M. Casleton, of Columbia, MO, and formerly of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, South America on July 21, 1937, the first son of Clarence and Isabel (Eberwine) Casleton. He lived in Brazil for six years before moving with his parents to Argentina. At age 12, he moved with his parents to the United States and settled in New Athens, Illinois.
He married his high-school sweetheart, Dorothy (Dot) Lehr in 1957 and made their home in Carbondale, Illinois, until his graduation from Southern Illinois University in 1959. After graduation, he was employed by The Western Electric Company in Chicago, IL as a Communications Engineer. In 1968 he was transferred to Baldwin, MO where he worked as a Senior Project Manager of Cellular Communications for the Southwest Region of AT&T. He retired from AT&T in 1989 and joined his wife in the real estate business until they retired together in 1997. They then moved to The Villages, FL where they lived for 27 wonderful years.
Ed enjoyed travelling, fishing, golf, and writing. He was a member of the North Lake Presbyterian Church.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Dot) Casleton of Columbia, Missouri; daughters, Lauri (Tim) Rich of Columbia, Missouri, and Julie (Matt) Martin of Ashville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Bill (Jessie) Musick of Columbia, Missouri; Cara Musick of Columbia Missouri; Briana Martin (Jeremy Munos) of Portland, Tennessee; Ellery (Nick) Weber of Festus, Missouri; Jonathan (Deanna) Rich of St, Joseph, Missouri; and five great grandchildren. A service for family and close friends will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 404 Portland St., Columbia, MO 65201.
