Steven Paul Whiting

Steven was born in Schenectady, New York on 24 January 1994 to Kristene and Wayne Whiting. Steven had two older siblings Samantha and Christopher, and one younger brother Cody. After the passing of Stevens’ parents, he moved in with his aunt, MayB Sersland and cousin Tylyn Sersland in Columbia Maryland.

Steven’s lifelong passion was playing football. During middle school he played for the Howard County Bruins, an unlimited weight football team that he helped lead to finishing as state runners-up in 2007. Steven played for the Atholton Raiders in Columbia Maryland all four years of high school earning honors such as Second Team All-County his junior and senior year, Columbia Flyer/Howard County Times Defensive Player of The Year and Team MVP and Defensive Player of The Year. Steven went on to play as a Defensive End for the Bowie State Bulldogs, but his football career was cut short due to injury.

Steven was a loving father, and always looked forward to spending quality time with his son Wayne. He was the life of the party and a goofball bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around him. He will be missed by many.

Steven is survived by his son Wayne Allen Whiting and his siblings Samantha Seip-Bayes (Husband, Ryan Seip-Bayes), and Christopher Seip (Wife, Gabby Seip), and Tyler Whiting. His grandmother JoAnn Wright, his aunts MayB Sersland, Heather Sersland, C.C Sersland and cousins Tylyn Sersland, James Sersland, and Michael Sersland. Niece’s Anna Seip (10) and Lorelai Seip (1) and Nephew Elias Seip-Bayes (5). Other family members include David, Wayne Jr, Jerry, Kenny, and Alicia.

Steven is preceded by his parents Kristene and Wayne Whiting, his brother Conrad. His maternal grandfather Michael Wright, and paternal grandparents George and Delores Whiting.

Family will receive friends at Witzke Funeral Homes Inc, 5555 Twin Knolls Road, Columbia, MD 21045, Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 10am, where Memorial Services will begin at 11am. The family has requested no flowers.
