Mary Marie Chambers, 66, of Columbia MD, passed away after a battle with cancer on Friday, June 23, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. Mary was born October 10, 1956, in Fredonia Kansas and grew up in Benedict, Kansas, daughter of J. Douglas Chambers and Dorothy (Parker). Growing up in rural Kansas she was very active in school and community activities, participating in 4H activities, participated in band, competed in math competitions, and also as a senior at Fredonia High School becoming editor of the High School Year Book. She excelled academically and upon graduation from high school she attended college at Wichita State University. She completed her undergraduate education with a triple major in political science, mathematics, and education. From there she proceeded to graduate school at Wichita State University where she earned a Masters of Art in Mathematics. She then attended the University of Utah and worked on a PhD in mathematics. While attending the University of Utah she decided it was time to join the work force. She was hired as a mathematician for the United Stated Government Department of Defense and worked at the National Security Agency. She had a successful career at NSA and retired in 2019 after a 35 year career. On April 30, 1988 she married Tim Bradley in Wichita, Kansas. During her time as a full-time employee and full-time mother she also found time to assist with the Howard County School PTA and local Cub Scout and Boy Scout activities.
Following her retirement Mary was very involved in community activities. She joined the Oriole Advocate organization, associated with the Baltimore Orioles. The Oriole Advocates is group of diverse individuals that enjoy the game of baseball and promote youth baseball in the state of Maryland. Also Mary spent much time helping out at the Breezy Willow Farm in Howard County MD. She enjoyed traveling as part of her job duties and continued her love of travelling in her retirement. She ventured to many countries such as Germany, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Tahiti/BoraBora/Moorea, US Virgin Islands, Mexico, Italy, Dominican Republic, and also many states across the country.
Mary is survived by her husband, Tim; and 3 sons; Alex Bradley, Hanover, MD; Sean Bradley, Salisbury, MD; and Ben Bradley, Columbia, MD; a sister Charlotte Neugebauer (Darrell) of Wichita, KS; mother-in-law Doris Bradley of Neenah, WI; sister-in-law Paula Diedrich (Dave) of Neenah, WI; brother-in-law Craig Allen (Ginny), Falcon Heights, MN; brother-in-law Dale Bradley, Neenah, WI; nephew Ryan Neugebauer, Denver, CO; nephew Kyle Neugebauer (Erica), Edmond, OK; nephew Jordan Neugebauer, Wichita, KS; nephew William Diedrich, Oshkosh, WI; niece Olivia Diedrich, Neenah, WI; nephew Nicholas Allen (Mira Vale), Cambridge, MA; niece Katherine Allen, Falcon Heights, MN.
A private cremation will be performed for immediate family. There is a Celebration Of Life ceremony will be held in Columbia MD, details to follow.
