Desiree Miller Thaler, age 102, our “Special Piece of Wonder” passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of December 3, 2024. Desiree was born on March 1, 1922 to the late Philip Miller and Selda Miller in Annapolis, Md. She graduated from Annapolis High School and then Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington D.C. Desiree went on to be secretary to Governor McKeldin in Annapolis. Living by the water, Desi loved to row her boat out into the Chesapeake Bay early in the morning to fish all day......even though she didn’t like eating fish!! Desi met the love of her life, Albert Conrad Thaler, and they married in 1946. Al, as everyone called him, was in real estate in Baltimore and then Howard County. Desi and Al had two wonderful children, Mark and Annette. Mark lives in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Annette and her husband, Horace Stillman, live at their In Time Farm, in Bedford, Pa.
Desi loved family, art, music, flowers, cooking, entertaining and whimsy! She was colorful and creative, and loved by everyone who met her!! She worked for many years at a friend’s flower shop in Pikesville, where she was able to use her artistic creativity to do floral design.
Al passed away in 1994 at the age of 77. Desi had two sisters, Eugenia Mandelkorn and Vicky Bear, who preceded her in death. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved.
