Sarojini Selvadurai was born in Mukuperi, Tamil Nadu, India, to Mr. Isaac Israel and Thangammal Israel in 1933. She was the first child out of 8 siblings. She is survived by her two siblings, younger brother Jothi Ratnam and younger sister Victoria, who live in India.
Sarojini Selvadurai married Vellakan Selvadurai in 1950. They had their first-born son Johnson in 1951, and soon after that their other children were born: James, Simson, Gnanasekaran, Thangaselvi, Bessie, and Persis.
In 1978 Mrs. Selvadurai was blessed at the age of 45 with her first grandchild, Kenneth Chelladurai, son of Bessie and Daniel. Soon after that, she was blessed with many more grandchildren:
Johnson’s children are Sherin, Sherani, and Shevanthi.
Simson‘s children are Blesson and Sylvia
Gnanasekaran’s children are Jackson, Jenson, and Jenilla
Bessie’s children are Kenneth, Lydia and Linda
Unfortunately, Mrs. Selvadurai lost her first daughter, Thangaselvi who died 10 days after birth and her youngest son Gnanasekaran passed away in 1990 at the age of 33 years.
Through these tough times, Mrs. Selvadurai found comfort and strength in Jesus Christ. Mrs.
Selvadurai and Mr. Selvadurai were strong believers in the power of God and practiced the Seventh Day Adventist belief. They were the long-time members of SDA church at Pragasapuram, Tamil Nadu, India. Since they moved to Loma Linda in 1996, they started attending the Campus Hill SDA Church, and have attended regularly over the last 20 years.
Mrs. Selvadurai lived her life in the most positive way. She saw good in everything and encouraged others to do the same. She cared deeply for everyone she knew, whether you are her family, friend, or a member of the community. She was always willing to help someone in need and she had the kindest heart. She was a generous, loving, supportive, and unselfish woman who always loved and respected others.
Last year, she had the opportunity to meet all her great grandchildren: Angeline, Hannah, Jenita, Jeffrey, Amelia, Amu, Timothy, Priyanka and Lakshmi.
Regrettably, she lost her beloved husband, Mr. Vellakan Selvadurai in July 8, 2018.
Mrs. Selvadurai passed away peacefully on December 18, 2018. Her faith was strong and she believed in Christ’s second coming and that this has been a temporary home for her.
