Services are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday (March 25th) at Montecito Memorial Cemetary and Mortuary in Colton for Rufina Gonzales Rodriguez, 86, who passed away on Thursday (March 19th) at her home in San Bernardino surrounded by her family.
Rufina was born March 6, 1929 in Glencoe, New Mexico to Rube Gonzales and Dorotea Salsberry Gonzales. They moved to Artesia, New Mexico in 1942. She met Joe Rodriguez, after WW II, and married on January 4, 1946 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Shortly, thereafter, they moved to San Bernardino.
Married for fifty-four years, Rufina was preceded in death by her husband Joe, parents, and brothers (Prosperito, Emilio, and Reyner); sisters (Oralia Perea, Adelina Rodriguez, Oralia Hinojos, Helen Chavez, Olivia Rodriguez, Viola Reyes, and Faye Gomez).
Survivors include daughter Frances Boutcher and husband Larry; son Joe Rodriguez; daughter Vicki Rodriguez; and daughter Cathy Bechtel and her husband Paul. She is also survived by grandson Joe Rodriguez and wife Jenny; granddaughter Toni Rodriguez and partner Azizi; grandson Nicholas Boutcher; granddaughter Lisa Boutcher; grandson Adam Rodriguez; granddaughter Elisa Bechtel; and great granddaughters Vanessa Rodriguez; Lauren Rodriguez; and Lindzey Rodriguez.
Rufina is also survived by her brother Ruben Gonzales and wife Manuela of Carlsbad, New Mexico and sister Tillie Garcia and husband Temo of Artesia, New Mexico; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
