ROSIE L. CRAWFORD, 81, was born in Doddsville, Mississippi, on March 9, 1932 to the late Shellie and Jessie Mae Robertson. She was one of 13 children to this union. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 22, 2014 after a long illness while residing in Highland, California. Rosie professed a faith in Christ at an early age.
She married Wilbur Crawford on September 4, 1949 and was married 50 wonderful years before his passing. Rosie had six beautiful children that she cherished every day. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Rosie, aka Madea, spent her life as a homemaker, making sure her children received the love, attention, and guidance that only a mother can provide. She possessed a gentle spirit and no one was a stranger. She showed love and care for everyone she met, always lending an ear to those that needed one. No matter your problem, when she was with you, you knew everything was going to be okay. Her favorite hobby was playing bingo – oh how she loved that; sometimes good and other times sooo close.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Maxine Steele (Johnnie) of Highland, California; daughter W. Jean Crawford-Boggs of Memphis, TN; son Larry Crawford (Kolleen) of Green Bay, WI; her sisters in Milwaukee, Wi, Bernice Liston, Bessie B. Miller (Jerome), Nue Jessie Buchanan, Linda Johnson, Renette Robertson; sister-in-law Brenda Luckett of Memphis, TN; twenty grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rosie was preceded in death by husband, Wilbur Crawford; her sons Ronald, Travis (Butch), Wilbur (Punch); her brothers Percy, Shellie Jr, Matthew, Charles, Huston and Jackie; a sister Wilmarene; and her mother and father.
