August 22, 1933 - October 30, 2024
Rose Swee Kwong Wong Ng was such an amazing woman — wife, mother, physician, and Por Por. She loved life and remained curious, generous and faithful until the end.
Rose was born in Canton, China to Susanna Lo Pooi Yan and Stamford Wong Shan Shou. The family left China for Penang, Malaysia due to the Sino-Japanese war. In Penang she remembered walking past the occupying Japanese soldiers to get to school. She graduated university in Sydney, Australia where she met Chow Choon Ng, the love of her life. They raised three children, Christine, Wendy and Gregory.
As a busy mother and family physician, Rose was a pillar of the Alor Star community for decades.
But after Chow Choon’s passing, she had the strength and courage to leave Malaysia and bring Gregory back to America.
Rose is survived by her daughters Christine (Herb) and Wendy, son Gregory, grandchildren Christianne (Trolas), Matthew and Kathleen, and great grandson Trevor.
Her sudden passing has left us numb & sad. Grief comes in waves but never goes away. We will never forget her!
