Retired Air Force Master Sergeant Paul Wesley FARNUM (age 83) passed away in his home in Grand Terrace, California on May 24, 2022. Paul was born March 29, 1939 and was the only child of George Wesley Farnum and Beatrice Louise Farnum (Reud). Paul was raised in Worcester, Massachusetts until he joined the Air Force following his high school graduation. Throughout his tenure in the Air Force, he was stationed at several different bases domestically, and internationally, including Saudi Arabia and Berlin, Germany. Paul spent most of his military career as a Special Agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) where he worked in counterespionage. Paul retired from the Air Force at Norton AFB in San Bernardino, California on December 31, 1979. He then went on to work for Riverside County, California as a fraud investigator, which he did until his retirement in 1996.
Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marlene (Acas), their 3 children, Susan Farnum Lattimore (Jim), David Farnum (Melissa) and Daniel Farnum (Wendy), as well as 9 grandchildren.
Paul and Marlene spent their years in retirement traveling domestically and abroad, cruises being their favorite. Paul loved baseball and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Paul served as an Honor Guard and over the years was very active in veterans’ organizations such as the Order of the Elks and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He especially enjoyed the social atmosphere at the American Legions in Norco and Redlands and was a lifetime member of Riverside VFW #9223.
A celebration of life will be held at Montecito Funeral Home (Cypress Chapel) in Colton, California on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 11:00 am. He will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 10:30 am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be sent to a veteran’s organization of your choosing.
