Margaret was a devoted servant of God, and supported several church ministries including participating in prayer groups and as President of the local chapter of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. She instilled in her children by example and word a deep Christian faith. She prayed the rosary with them, read religious books and magazines, and shared her insights and rules for living with them. She gave food to the homeless who would occasionally knock on the door, donated to many charities, could spend hours on the phone counseling and praying for friends, and would talk to strangers when she sensed a spiritual need. Many people who knew her would accurately think of her as a living saint. Even when disease and a stroke diminished her abilities and made her completely dependent on others for care, her quiet and peaceful presence aroused a compassion and love for her that will continue long after her passing.
