Gary Wayne Oyas

He was born April 1, 1960 to Fred Oyas and Carol Byland in Fontana, California. He was a graduate from Cajon High school, class of 1978 in San Bernardino. Gary graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Chaffey College.

Gary had an exceptional career. He entered the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in 1982. Gary was a member of the SERT team at California Rehabilitation Center in Norco, California. He met his wife of 37 years, Cecilia in the department as well. They married in 1985. He was at CRC until 1986, and then he was promoted to Correctional Sergeant at California Institution for Men in Chino, California. He then returned to CRC as a Correctional Lieutenant in 1994. He promoted once again to Correctional Captain at CRC in 2004. He retired from the department in 2010.

Gary loved to sit in his backyard and listen to music with a cold beer in hand. He enjoyed watching the Dodgers, Chargers and Rams games. Bad or good he was a loyal fan. Gary loved to read, go see new movies, attend concerts, ride his Harley and take long walks and runs. He took part in many 5K, 10K and half marathons. Gary loved spending time with family and good friends. But most of all he loved sharing his life with his beautiful wife whom he lovingly called Cici. He always made her laugh and she will miss him dearly. We all know he is watching over her from Heaven.

He is survived by his wife Cecilia, his son Joe and 2 daughters Theresa and Melanie, 7 grandkids Joseph, Abraham, Gloria, Jacob, Nathan, Dorothy and Benjamin and 1 great grandkid Abraham Jr, his brother Steve, his sister Lori and 7 nephews and 9 nieces. And many great nieces and great nephews that loved Uncle Gary.

Gary lived a fully experienced life and he will always have a special place in our hearts. We wish you peace and a restful soul.
