Edna Louise Woodson, affectionately known as "Louise" and Sister Woodson, was born to the union of Eugene and Ella Mae Eleby, Sr., on February 18, 1936 in Mobile, Alabama. She departed this life in God's loving care on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
Edna L. Woodson confessed her life to the Lord at an early age at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, in Mobile, Alabama. She was an avid scholar and graduated from Central High School at the top of her class. Her dream was to be a Spanish teacher. In 1953, she married Issac "Ike" Lymon; together they had 7 children. In 1959 Edna and Ike moved to Los Angeles, California. In 1970 - she met and married Lepolean "Lee" Woodson. They resided in Pasadena, California. Edna and Lee moved to San Bernardino in 1983. She became a member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in San Bernardino and served there for many years. Her final church home was Walk by Faith Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a choir member and a church clerk - which allowed her to plan and host multiple church programs - something that she loved doing.
Edna loved family gatherings, cooking, watching game shows, playing games, engaging in fellowship with her church and other churches, and shopping - especially at Ross. She was a very warm and welcoming person who loved being out and spending time with people.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Reverend Lepolean Woodson; her parents: Eugene and Ella Mae Eleby, Sr., three brothers: Eugene Eleby, Jr., Charles H. Eleby, Edward L. "Pat" Eleby; and two sisters: Ella Lorraine Taylor and Ethel Lou Stallworth; her children: Charles L. Lymon, Vanessa Lymon, Terry Lymon, and Darren Lymon.
Edna L. Woodson leaves to cherish her precious memories: her sister Emma (Earl) Adams Sr. (Mobile, Alabama); her children: Vincent D. (Jeanne) Lymon, Tchernavia L. Oliver, Beverly L. (Donald) Johnson, Myron (Marcia) Woodson; her grandchildren: Treesa (Pete) Sabato, Shanel Harris, Dewaina (Bryan) Riggsby, Miyoshia Lymon, Sharisa (Sotha) Chan, Miashawn Johnson, Vincent (Ann) Lymon, Lovell (Jasmine) Johnson, Shaneika Lymon, Mercedes (Jamal) Paul, Myron (Jessica) Woodson II, Alexis Woodson, Jasmine (Chris) Castaneda, Chellby Bragg, and Elijah Woodson; her sister-in-laws: Jessie Eleby and Hattie Mims; and a host of great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
