His parents moved the family to California when Charles was a young boy. They settled in Redlands where he lived for much of his life. Charles worked at the Redlands laundry for many years, during which he started a family. He went on to begin a second career as a commercial/residential painter. This venture would later take him to Yucca Valley where he lived for 25 years.
Charles is preceded in death by wife, Cecelia Wingate; parents Esque and Elizabeth Wingate; and brothers, Joseph, Travis, Jesse, and Ervin Wingate. He is survived by sister, Maggie Fuentes of San Bernardino. Charles had 8 children of which is preceded in death by sons Carl, Andrew, and Daryl Wingate and daughter Martina Ramirez. Charles is survived by son Charles (Sheila) Wingate of Redlands, Joanna (Shane) Stueckle of Yucca Valley, William and Jonathan of Texas, and Lynn Whitaker of Texas. Charles is survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His final days were spent with his loving children, grandchildren, nephew, and nieces. Charles spoke about wanting to see Jesus, his devoted wife, and his loving mother in heaven. He knew his Lord and Savior and was at peace. Today, Charles is enjoying a pain-free eternal life with his loved ones who have passed before him, praising Jesus.
A memorial service for Charles will be held Monday, February 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 24145 Barton Rd, Loma Linda, CA 92354. Following the memorial service will be a committal service from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324.
