Virginia Kerin was born on June 12, 1932 to the late J. Miller Jett and Frances Cabell Jett at Winchester Memorial Hospital. She died suddenly, but peacefully on March 23, 2011 in Alamogordo, New Mexico on her way to visit her grandchildren. She was raised in Warren County, Virginia and graduated from Warren County High School and attended James Madison College in Harrison, Virginia. She married 2nd Lt. Bernard M. Kerin (Mike) on Dec. 20, 1952 and together they had four children.
Virginia followed her husband during his military career to Illinois, Mississippi, Utah, Florida and several tours in Colorado. They retired to Front Royal, Virginia and then moved back to Colorado Springs, Colorado. She moved to Sahuarita, Arizona in 2005 to be near her daughter. Virginia enjoyed watching all sports, going to Colorado Rockies baseball games and playing scrabble. Most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by sons, Michael J. (Kathy) Kerin of Morgantown, West Virginia and Patrick (Allison) Kerin of Lubbock, Texas; daughters, Mary Ellen (Frank) Benarth of Sahuarita, Arizona and Susan (Robert) Rabold of Front Royal, Virginia; four grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Reagan of Denver, Colorado, Michael Kerin of New Haven, Connecticut and Kohle and Kason Kerin of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by one great grandchild, Elizabeth Reagan of Denver, Colorado. She is predeceased by her husband and one brother, Robert M. Jett.
Visitation will be at Swan Law Funeral Home on March 29, from 5-7p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 7400 Tudor Rd., Colorado Springs, Colorado at 1:30pm. She will be reunited with her husband at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver Colorado.
