Virginia Fay (Faye) Jayne surrounded by her husband Fred E. Jayne, sons Fred Eugene Jayne and his wife Paula Jayne, Ronald H. Jayne, daughter Yvonne Denise Pyne and her husband Ernest Terry Pyne returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father Wednesday morning August 6, 2015. In the last 2 months of her life she enjoyed what was most important to her, her family. She was so grateful to each family member who was able to join with her and her husband. She had a great love for family members, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren wanting them with her at every possible moment.
Virginia was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She served as a Temple worker in the Denver Temple for two years and extracted over 18,000 names for the church indexing program, spending hours collecting names from birth and death records and census records. She retired from US West Telephone Company where at the close of her career she was a supervisor and trained service assistant operators. When she began her career she was 17 years old and saw many changes in the telecommunications industry.
The greatest joy in her life was her family and having them near gave her the greatest joy. Her favorite was to have her great grandchildren spend the night with her in her home and taking them out to dinner. She spent many hours crocheting Afghans and dresses for her children and grandchildren. She had a huge collection of salt and pepper shakers from all over the US and the world. In the last few years she enjoyed allowing friends and family members to choose their favorites and giving them to them. She was an avid reader, reading a new book every few days. Her mornings often began at 4 am when she logged on to her computer and did jigsaw puzzles. Each day she would receive new ones and would complete them.
For the last 29 years she and her husband spent winters in Mesa, AZ where she made many friends who loved her dearly. They were the recipient of many thousands of cards that were sent over the years. Valentines, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, deaths, births. She never missed sending cards to those she loved and cared about. Her last concern the day before she passed was if a card had been sent to her Grandson who had a birthday the next day. She would spend hours in card shops to find the perfect ones.
The last four winters she was able to spend in Sunland Village in Mesa, Az. living with her daughter, Denise and her husband where she was able to enjoy making new friends and where she had her last dance just over a year ago with her husband. She loved going there and recently said that she hoped she was well enough to return.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ivy Myrtle Carr Franklin and Henry Lovett Franklin; siblings, Nita Hiner, Edna Donna, Violet Bond, Tom Franklin, Art Franklin, Newell Franklin and grandchildren, Brian Eugene Jayne and Jennifer Jayne. She is survived by her husband Fred Elgin Jayne; sons, Fred Eugene Jayne (Paula Jayne), Ronald Henry Jayne (Charlotte Jayne), daughter, Yvonne Denise Pyne (Terry Pyne); grandchildren, Jeffrey Paul Jayne, Melissa Jayne Strain (Joe Strain), Crystal Jayne Colville, Justin Terry Pyne, Toria Kristine Pyne, Christina Martin, great grandchildren, Charon Jayne Strain, Matea Jayne Strain, Jaya Taylor Pyne, Ava Fay Gardner, Lydia Kristine Gardner, Lexus Jayne Gardner and Jack Mason Gardner, and sister Rosalie Waller.
