Tristan was born on July 15, 1997, in Albuquerque, NM. He moved with his family to Colorado
Springs just three months later. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend who
will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tristan graduated with honors from Liberty High School in 2015 and went on to earn two Associate
of Applied Science degrees in Networking Technology and CCNA, along with four certificates in
Networking Technology, Networking CCNA, Cybersecurity, and Network+ at Pikes Peak State
College. He was currently attending the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, working toward
his bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, and during this time, he also earned his CompTIA Security+
certification.
Tristan held various tech positions, including roles at The Mac Corner and Current, before
becoming a Senior Engineering Aid at Lockheed Martin in early 2022. Throughout his career, Tristan
earned recognition for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others, all enhanced by
his infectious and outgoing personality. In a short span of time, he received two promotions and
recently completed a complex project that garnered celebration from his team, highlighting his
exceptional contributions.
Tristan cherished every moment with his fantastic group of friends. Among them, he felt a unique
connection with a close-knit crew he playfully called the “Nerds,” a title they still embrace to this
day. He had a wicked sense of humor and a sarcastic streak that ran deep, bringing endless
laughter and comic relief to his friends and family alike.
In his free time, Tristan was passionate about technology, often helping others by building
computers for those in need. A dedicated gun collector, he possessed an impressive wealth of
knowledge about firearms and their history. As an accomplished outdoorsman, he loved hunting
and camping and had proudly earned the prestigious title of Eagle Scout at the age of 14. Tristan
was also a talented cook and a true foodie, always excited to experiment with new recipes and
flavors. He enjoyed dining out with friends and family, eagerly seeking out new culinary
experiences.
Tristan is survived by his loving parents, April and J.D. Sauer, his sister, Makenna Sauer, and his
beloved bird, Kipper (affectionately known as his "velociraptor"). He was preceded in death by his
grandfather, Earl “Snuffy” Smith, and grandfather, John Sauer. He is also remembered by his
grandmothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. His memory will be cherished by all who
had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial celebration of life will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 10
a.m. at Swan-Law in Colorado Springs. Please join us for a reception following the service at the
Colorado Springs Elks Lodge #309 on North Nevada, where food and drinks will be shared as we
come together to celebrate Tristan’s life. Family and friends are welcome to raise a toast in his
honor and share their favorite memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity that reflects Tristan’s
passions and spirit. Suggested organizations include Computers with Causes, The National Mill
Dog Rescue, a bird rescue/sanctuary, or a suicide prevention organization of your choice.
