Tommie Copeland of Colorado Springs, CO, was born in Lawton, OK on July 3, 1929, moving to Colorado Springs in the mid 1950s.
He is survived by his wife Essie Copeland; sister Emma; adoptive children Rev. Willie Turner & Mrs. Claretha Turner, and Mr. Ronnie Duncan.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mrs. Nettie Brown-Copeland; father Dave Copeland; brothers JD, Leroy, James & Lorenzo; sisters LaVaeda and Hattie. Tommie leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Brother Copeland served as a Deacon in the Churches of God in Christ, in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. He often expressed his love for God, and testified of God’s goodness to he and his wife. He loved people and always gave to those that were less fortunate. He and his wife own and operated “Little Mission” thrift stores in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, where they clothed and fed those in need. They shipped hundreds of pounds of clothing to the country of Honduras and to West Africa for the poor. He was truly a servant of God. They often open their home to those that were homeless.
