Sylvia Ann Osborne

Long time Colorado Springs resident, homemaker and business woman, Sylvia Ann Osborne, 78, passed away on June 3, 2010 at her home in Colorado Springs. She was born March 31, 1932 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Pierre and Felicita Griego.

On December 11, 1954 Sylvia married Joseph Fredric Osborne, an Airman stationed at Albuquerque’s Kirtland Air Force Base. As an “Air Force Family” Fred, Sylvia and children traveled the world, from Great Britain to Morocco including Stateside postings in Delaware, California, New Mexico and Colorado.

Sylvia retired with distinction from the KMart Corporation where she was instrumental in the formation of the Asset Recovery Department. In 1982 she was selected “Woman Of The Year” by the Columbine chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. Sylvia spent the last fourteen years of her career with the Pikes Peak Library District where she was a recipient of the Four Corners Award. At 77, she maintained the energy and work ethic that she was known for throughout her life.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents: Pierre and Felicita Griego; sisters: Libby Sanchez and husband Orlando; Gloria Birosh and husband George; brother: Orlando Griego; brother in law: John Zacardi; cousin: Betty Dobbs and beloved granddaughter, Ansley Mosbarger.

She is survived by sons: Greg Osborne; Pierre Osborne and Patrick Osborne; daughters: Anette Farnham (Thad); Cecile Mosbarger (Neil) and Elizabeth Osborne; grandson: Sam Farnham; granddaughters: Kate Mosbarger and Maggie Mosbarger; sisters: Sadie Sanchez (Luz); Melba Guerin (Kenneth); Helen Sanchez; Rita Zacardi; brother: Leo Griego (Cathy); brother in law: Bill Osborne (Liz); aunt: Bette Richards and cousins: Gerry Terrill and Daryl Terrill.

Sylvia was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. As a knowledgeable collector of antiques and fine collectibles, she believed that surrounding oneself with beauty was second only to surrounding oneself with love.

Towards the end of her life, Sylvia talked mostly of her children, “I think of my kids all the time, every minute of the day...”.
