Ryan Christopher Patterson, 33 years old, passed away on Friday, August 26th, 2016 under doctors’ care at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. He put up a hard fight, but lost to an infection that overtook his body. Ryan was born in Rapid City, South Dakota and raised as a military brat across the globe. He attended The Brussels American School in Belgium and received a soccer scholarship to the Colorado State University in Pueblo. Due to Ryan’s love for all living things, he chose to cultivate his career as a Botanist and dedicated many years to helping plants grow and flourish.
Ryan was the kind of man who had more charm than he knew what to do with, and a heart far bigger than most. He would walk a spider outside before he would harm it, and hardly ever made a public appearance without a hat on. He had a niche for all artistic things and loved anything that sparkled. He enjoyed spending time with friends; mountain hikes with his dog, and eating bowls of cereal at 3 o’clock in the morning.
Ryan is now at peace alongside his father, and will forever be loved and remembered. He is survived by his mother Terri, of Monument; sister, Erin and her husband Joseph Staltare of Denver; brother, Nicholas and wife, Sharon, along with their son, Nixon, of Monument; his girlfriend, Karen, of Colorado Springs; and his beloved dog, Kona.
The memorial service for Ryan will be held at an outside setting at The Historic Pinecrest venue in Palmer Lake, Colorado on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 12pm, with a reception to follow.
In honor of Ryan’s love for plants and nature, The Arbor Day Foundation has set up a page to receive donations to help their mission in replanting forests across the globe,
