Ron McNett – husband, father, grandpa, innovator, and sports buff – passed away on July 13, 2024, leaving a lasting impact on our lives. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, he grew to love the ocean and spent his early years swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. At the age of ten, Ron’s family moved to Fennimore, Wisconsin. A few years later in the 8th grade, he began dating his wife Deb. Ron was quite an athlete in high school and played football, wrestling, and track. Ron and Deb were high school sweethearts, and they graduated from Fennimore High School in 1976 and days later were married. Shortly after, Ron enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country for four years in California before settling in Colorado and finally Monument where he spent the rest of his days surrounded by his loving family.

As a dedicated, self-taught electrical engineer, Ron was able to perpetuate his success. His unwavering work ethic earned him admiration from his coworkers and peers. Over the course of his career, Ron worked at several companies designing and creating code for a plethora of products.

In addition to his incredible professional career, Ron’s love for athletics continued as he became a loyal Broncos fan and devoted his Sundays to watching football with his son. He also enjoyed watching movies and was able to recall and recite lines from his favorite characters. His adventurous side was revealed through skiing and later motorcycle riding. After a long, hard day, Ron enjoyed kicking back with a cigar and a whiskey in the company of “his guys.”

Most importantly, Ron loved spending every spare second he had with his family through camping trips, family get-togethers, and holiday celebrations. To Ron, that family always included his various pets, especially his latest dog, Maizy. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and showed his love for them through telling stories around the campfire, reading books to them, or quick catch-up conversations that made each one of them feel valued. His approach to teaching his grandchildren was unique, turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

His seven-year battle with cancer, that he fought with the same quiet strength and ferocity that he did everything, came to an end. Ron will forever be remembered as a champion of integrity, honesty, and love. Though we are saying goodbye, we will always cherish his memories and modeling. He was such a presence, and though seemingly rough on the outside, there was no one with a bigger or softer heart. Please honor his memory by finding joy in nature, cheering on the Broncos, the sound of a motorcycle roaring down the road, and living every moment with the ones you love.

The impact of Ron’s love and legacy will forever be embraced and revered. He is survived by his brother and sister, wife of 48 years, three children, and eight grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 18th at 1:00 at the Hearth House (192 Front Street, Monument, CO). His final resting place will be in Wisconsin at a service held in October.
