Roberta “Bobbie” N. Ross, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on June 19, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois on June 28, 1934 to the late Norman and Eva Neilson.
Bobbie graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1952. She received her B.S. in Nursing from Ohio State University in 1957. Upon graduation, she became a surgical scrub nurse at OSU Hospital. She relocated with her husband to Colorado Springs in 1967 where they raised four children.
Family and friends were extremely important to Bobbie. She was very active in the life of the First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs, serving as a Deacon and an Elder. One of her great loves was the First Presbyterian Church choir of which she was an active member for over thirty-one years. While raising her children, she was an avid horse enthusiast; involved with horse breeding and showing. Bobbie also volunteered as a docent at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and remained an involved supporter.
Bobbie leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband Dr. Richard Ross of Colorado Springs, loving children, Stephen (Laura) Ross of Aurora, Colorado, Michael (Cheryl) Ross of Boston, Massachusetts, Julie (Dale) Zehner of Colorado Springs, Leslie Carter of Colorado Springs and seven adored grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place Friday June 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou Street, Colorado Springs. A reception will follow immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
