Rita Catherine Schuster

Rita Catherine Schuster (Stephan) passed away January 8, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Rita was born February 28, 1932, in Canton, Ohio to Edmund and Bertha (Strickroth) Stephan. She attended school in Canton and graduated from Timken Vocational High School as an accomplished dressmaker. Rita married Harry Schuster on May 13, 1952. To this marriage 7 children were born. Harry and Rita made their home in Harry’s hometown of Windsor Locks, CT. After enjoying a vacation to Arizona in the winter of 1969, they gave up on New England winters and moved to sunny Arizona. They enjoyed many years there and then discovered South Dakota. Rita had lived in Spearfish for the past 25 years. She was a member of St Joseph's Parish. As an avid crocheter she made many prayer shawls with her woman’s group. She enjoyed Deadwood and her weekly card games with the girls. Rita was preceded in death by her husband Harry and her 10 siblings. She is survived by her children, Gayle Schuster, Karen and Mike Estep, Karl Schuster, Mary Scherb, Linda and Wayne Scoville, Kurt and Rebecca Schuster and Leanne and Marty McSorley as well as 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service and burial will take place at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, Connecticut 06096 on June 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
