Mike was a gifted artist from a very young age. In high school, he received a fine arts scholarship to attend The Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio. While in college, he developed a great interest for painting in acrylics as his chosen medium of expression.
Mike was a proud Army veteran that served in the Vietnam War. He resided in Florida for many years, where he is well known for his talented artwork. While in Florida, he enjoyed fishing with his son and spending time with his grandchildren in the sunshine.
Mike's last year of life was spent on the outskirts of Colorado Springs where he spent days painting, woodworking, enjoying the mountain views, and spending time with his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter.
Some of Mike’s last words were: “Had a good life!” and “Blessed and happy family…I’m thankful.” He had a passion for the Lord, his family, friends, and his country.
Mike is survived by his two children: Kevin (Kristen) Kelley and Karisa (Shawn) Shaffer and three grandchildren: Cheyenne Shaffer, and Kai and Calla Kelley.
