Mayola graduated from High School in Jefferson, TX and was on the high school basketball team. After high school, she met her husband, Henry Reed who was a Chief Warrant Officer- 4 in the U.S. Army. Mayola was primarily a homemaker; however, she was blessed to travel to many interesting countries to include Jerusalem, Germany, Okinawa, Spain, and England.
Mayola was President of the Women’s Auxiliary at the Veterans of Foreign War, Post #3917 in Colorado Springs. She attended several State Conventions and served as a Color Bearer. She also volunteered for charity groups to include Care and Share Food Bank and distributing poppy flowers for donations to help veterans in needs. She was a faithful member of the Pikes Peak Baptist Church and sang in the choir.
May, as she was affectionately called by her husband, also loved to bowl, golf, and play dominoes. She also was a fashionista, passionate about fashion and style. Always dressed impeccable. Dressed to the nines.
Mayola Reed is preceded in death by both parents, her husband, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Patricia A. Neal (Walter Davenport), two sons: Charles E. (Melissa) Reed and Zane A. (Danielle) Reed. Also 5 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great children and a host of relatives and friends.
Mayola Reed will be deeply missed.
