Maureen was born August 12, 1944 to John S. Casey and Marion Bustos in Long Beach California. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Jonah Nuuhiwa, Jr; her sister Joanne (Angelo) Halamandaris; brothers John and Patrick Casey; daughter Shannon Tompkins Wester; son Art (Tara) Richmond Jr; grandchildren James Saleda, Casey Tompkin, Tommy Richmond, Arthur Richmond, Amber Ann Richmond, and Max Richmond; two great-grandchildren, Jameson and Isabella Saleda.
While in her teen years, Marueen loved riding horseback. She rode in areas of Canoga Park and Chattsworth, California. Maureen also entered local rodeos in the barrel racing category, with Blue Ribbons to show.
Maureen also enjoyed singing with her husband, Jonah. They would play for various hula troops in Northern California. Though Hawaiian music was their specialty, they also played Country Western music. Maureen’s favorite song became Jambalaya, a Hank Williams, Sr Composition.
Before retirement, Maureen worked at Fairfield Medical Hospital as an accountant.
Maureen also loved doing “crafts,” from ceramics, and floral designing to home decorating.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be very missed.
A memorial service for Maureen will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
