Matt was born on February 4, 1969 at the US Naval Base in Rota Spain. He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years “Maggie” Donahue Hodges of Colorado Springs. They shared a wonderful life full of love, travel, and family. He is also survived by his parents, Walt and Melissa Hodges of Edmond, Oklahoma, his brother, Wally (Debbie) Hodges of Altoona, Iowa, his sister, Cynthia (Amel) Muhamedagic of Edmond, Oklahoma, and his sister-in-law, Jacqueline (Chad) Lindgren of Iowa City, Iowa. His beloved four nephews and two nieces that he doted on, as well as many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends, also survive him.
His career was with Oracle Corporation, most recently as Information Technology Security Director, where he earned a reputation as a brilliant mind, ready to solve any problem that arose with his vast insights into Information Technology Security Architecture. He was also an Assistant Adjunct Professor at Colorado Technical University (CTU).
A lifelong learner, never tiring of advancing his education and enriching his mind, Matt excelled and loved all things academic. He received two undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Computer Science from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa; three Masters degrees from CTU, including Master of Management, Master in Information System Security, and a MBA in Project Management. Most recently, he earned a Master of Science-Information Assurance degree from Iowa State University
Matt’s wide and varied passions included riding his Harley whenever possible and traveling the world, always in search of the next Hard Rock Café, visiting over 70 locations. A kid at heart, he absolutely loved all things Disney.
A memorial service will be held on January 12, with visitation at 12 noon, and the service following at 2 pm at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs.
