Mary Helen Jensen died on August 27, 2012. She was born in Newton, Iowa on July 15, 1919. Mary Helen grew up in Siebert, Colorado. After marrying, she and her husband Leon “Tag” moved to Colorado Springs.
Mary Helen worked at the El Paso Associates and the Air Force Academy before retiring.
She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Lower Skyway Bible Study class.
Mary Helen was an avid gardener and belonged to the Elmohr Iris Society and the Colorado Springs Daylily Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon and a sister Alice Sutton. She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Francis) Schwartz of Aurora; and Beverly (Henry) Oppermann of Connellsville, PA. Also surviving are four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister Ferne Martin of Denver and a brother Harold of Denver and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation is planned for Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 4:00 – 7:00 at Swan-Law Funeral Director’s. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou Street, Colorado Springs. The burial will take place a 3:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
