1932 – 2018
Mary went home with Jesus on March 5th, 2018 after an extended illness, passing away at home in hospice care provided by her family.
Born to Mary (O’Bleness) and Elvin Zane in July of 1932, Mary was preceded in death by both parents, her older brother Harold, her husband of 50 years Jude Goodale, and her Grandson Maj. David Goodale.
Mary is survived by her son Tracy (Maxine) Goodale, daughter Becky (Walt) Williams, granddaughter Tina (Sol) McMillin, and granddaughter Jacque (William) McDougall. Mary is also survived by great grandsons Caiden and Merrik McMillin, Jude McDougall, and great granddaughters Desilyn, Avery, and Nina McDougall.
Mary retired as supervisor of the Colorado Springs City Utilities Payroll Department in 1987 after 23 years and served over 30 years as vice-president of Colorado Springs Retirees Association until May 2017.
Mary gave her time and talent for thirteen years to the Colorado Springs Credit Union serving on the Board of Director’s Supervisory, Facilities, and Y2K committees through the year 2000.
Mary, for over 50 years, was a proud and active member of the Torchbearer Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She served her sorority sisters including being twice elected Queen. The Beta Sigma Phi International Executive Council bestowed The Order of the Rose on Mary in 1985.
Never to pass up a chance to have a good time, Mary loved to travel and joined in membership of a local chapter of the Red Hat Society. Along with her local Red Hatter’s, Mary was instrumental in helping to coordinate and host many local, state and regional Red Hat conferences and annual celebrations.
Mary Goodale was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary at the local Post No. 4051.
Mary’s strong faith in God was always first and foremost in her daily life and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Colorado Springs. Up until Mary’s health began to deteriorate in September of 2017, Mary volunteered with other congregational women in serving her church family and visiting other church members who were incapacitated.
Mary Goodale caringly touched many lives throughout the United States over her eighty five years. Mary wore many hats showcasing her talents, her caregiving and “can do” attitude, and her true love and respect for others. Though Mary will certainly be missed, her smile and wit will forever be remembered.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road with funeral services Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 317 E. Kiowa St.
