Marie Wilkes Walsh

Marie Wilkes Walsh, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on February 20, 2010 at the age of 91. She is survived by her children, Mary Hendricks of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (formerly of Colorado Springs), Barbara (Jim) Schneiter of Colorado Springs, and Anne Walsh of Seattle, Washington; her grandchildren Seth Hendricks, Marnie (Rick) Soares, Mollie (Jason) Shatek and Stephen Schneiter; great-grandchildren Reilly and Matteus Soares. She is also survived by her sister, Alma Thomas, of Sun City, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie was a class act and was happy to welcome friends and visitors with a homemade cake. She was an accomplished chair caner and enjoyed a rousing hand of poker. Marie was born in Yonkers, New York and in her working life she was a registered nurse. She was loved by all she touched and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 on Thursday, February 25 from 4:00 to 6:00. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue on Friday, February 26 at 10:30 with reception to follow. Private inurnment at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
