Lucas Manzanares

Lucas was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jolene, maternal grandparents Isaac and Viola Martinez, paternal grandparents Earl and Anita Manzanares, as well as cousins Glen Martinez and Justin Moore, among many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his sister Melissa (Weylen) Vigil of Alamosa, brother Jamie (Deanna) Manzanares of Littleton, nephews Alex (Victoria) Lovato of Albuquerque, N.M., Cameron Manzanares of Littleton, Weylen Jr. of Alamosa, nieces Tiffany (Brandon) Albert of Alamosa, Mackenzie (Matthew) Starkey of Littleton, and four great-nieces and nephews: Jordan, Isabel, Joel, and Harper. Also survived by uncles Ron (Carol) Martinez of Monte Vista, Claude (Becky) Manzanares of Salt Lake, Utah, Ben Maes of Lakewood, aunts Peggy Martinez of Monte Vista, Joyce Pacheco of Monte Vista, and Rosin Manzanares of Lakewood, along with numerous cousins.

Lucas completed a year-long recovery program at Life Changers Ministry in Gallup, N.M., where he encountered Pastors Ryan and Lindsey, as well as supportive "Brothers" Billy, Josh, and Travis. Inspired by his experience, Lucas aspired to pursue a career in ministry, a dream unfulfilled due to his untimely passing.

A lover of the mountains, Lucas enjoyed cookouts, bonfires with family and friends, and was renowned for his heart of gold. Known for his selflessness, he would readily give the shirt off his back or his last dollar to those in need.

Services to celebrate Lucas's life will be held on Nov. 18, at 11 a.m., at River of Life Church (2602 Clark St.) in Alamosa, with burial at San Luis Valley Cemetery, followed by a meal at the Nazarene gymnasium in Monte Vista after the inurnment.
