Lorraine C. Goodner was born on May 18, 1935 and went home to heaven on October 28, 2022. She was born to John and Alice Martin in Silver Bow County, Montana as the third of four siblings. After her father passed away, the family relocated to central Idaho near the Salmon River.
In the early 1950s, Lorraine married and relocated to southern California where she had her first two children, Theron and Cindy. While in California, Lorraine graduated from cosmetology school and opened her own hair salon at the age of 21.
As her salon business in Hawthorne, California flourished, Lorraine married her second husband, Gerald Goodner, in July of 1965. Shortly thereafter, the salon was sold and they moved to Costa Mesa, California where her remaining three children (Ben, John, and Jennifer) were born.
For the next 40+ years Lorraine remained in Orange County (excluding a brief stay in Texas in the late 1970’s) where, largely as a single mom, she worked as a cosmetologist, raised her children and put them through private schools, was an active volunteer, and supported her kids through college.
In 2005, Lorraine retired and moved to Colorado Springs where she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and stayed busy with her favorite hobby - quilting.
But Lorraine’s passion was telling people about Jesus. It was hard to have a conversation with her without hearing how He brought her through all the challenges of life. She loved the Lord with all her heart, served Him throughout her life, and raised her children to do the same. Lorraine’s children are blessed to know that she is in heaven now and they will be reunited one day.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents John and Alice, her brothers Tom and Joe, and children Theron and Cindy. She is survived by her brother Roy, her children Ben (wife Kristi), John (wife Kathy), Jennifer (husband Chris), grandchildren Nathan, Tim, Julia, Sophia, and Abigail, and great-grandchildren Karter, Phoenix, and Stephán.
A Celebration of Life service (and reception) for Lorraine will be held Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. A visitation time will be held an hour before the service starts. A committal service will occur Monday, November 7, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expy, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
