Fondly known as “Ling,” and she herself liked to say, “You know, like ding-a ling,” she will be remembered for her gregarious nature and fun-loving, outspoken personalilty. Ling was educated in business at James Madison University. She held various jobs throughout her work career and was an executive secretary with NASA. She was a long-time Avon Lady, meeting and enjoying others through her sales and deliveries, as well as collecting many friends through her bowling league and her sorority sisterhood. She kept in touch with the Tea Street Girls, her lifelong friends from young adulthood. Ling helped in her children's schools and was active in Aldersgate Church and Sunday School. She volunteered in ministries including Family Promise and Kairos Outside, a branch of prison ministry in which she shared her special talents of conversation and music leadership.
A celebration of life is planned for March 14th at 3 p.m. at Aldersgate UMC, 360 Robert Blvd., Slidell, LA 70458. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Please call 985-641-5829 for details. Memorial donations may be made to Aldersgate Church, and memories and condolences may be shared at dignitymemorial.com. Ling's family is grateful for all the medical personel and friends who cared for, helped, and loved Ling. One of her special loves was nature and the seasons she experienced living in various locations. The closing line from a sonnet Ling wrote decribes the beauty of the living landscape, but also describes her own, many-faceted life: “The hand of God has created His Quilt!”
