She was born in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico to Rafael De Pau Manzanero and Eddy Maria Canto Lopez, and there, met Alvaro Duran, whom she married and had six children. She and her husband, came to the United States in the late 1950’s, she became a US citizen, and established their home in Santa Clara County, CA until 2011 when she moved and established her home in Colorado Springs.
She was a self-starter and learned how to speak English, drive a car, and soon enough, began working at Raytheon, from where she eventually retired. She brought love, laughter, and closeness to all family gatherings with food, fun, but especially music. Oh, how she loved to dance. That was her true passion. She enjoyed thrills and adventure, traveling and exploring the world with her kids, but also playing cards and participating in other activities. She was a devout Catholic and supported many charities. She is survived by her children, Alvaro, Maria, Ligia, Ana, Julian, and Rafael, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A Rosary (10:15am) and Funeral Mass (11:00am) will be held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Saturday, August 5.
