Dr. Adams was my neurologist and also my son’s. I have epilepsy and he has Tourette Syndrome. We were both so sad when we heard Dr. Adam’s passed away. My son said, “Mom, he wasn’t just my doctor; he was my friend!” So many people have expressed that. 

I’m writing this because Dr. Adam’s was mentoring and challenging my son as he was progressing through college. My son wants to be a neurologist too. They would his classes and what he was learning. He graduated with his Bachelor’s in Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Adam’s gave him a reference as he applied to medical school. He was accepted and will be starting in July at Rocky Vista University. 

Dr. Adams meant a lot to both of us. My son was inspired by Dr. Adams and still remembers many of the things he told him.

Dr. Adams was my life saver. I miss him all the time, but in gratitude. He got me back to wellness when I thought it wasn’t possible. I got so very sick neurologically and as a favor to someone else he saw me during a lunch break. He got me a step closer to wellness, but a year later he was accepting new patients. It was then, after seeing neurologists all over the state that I finally started really getting well through his expertise. I became a person again. He was so kind to everyone . I will be eternally grateful and will serve others in gratitude of Jack.

I cannot believe already one year has passed.  Almost my entire career as a neurology PA, I worked with Dr. Adams. I learned an incredible amount of knowledge from him,  most importantly how to listen to patients and learn more about them as people, not just as a disease or disorder.
I think about you everyday! Miss you, Dr. Adams❤️

Our deepest sympathy to the entire family.  He was the BEST neurologist!  Dr. Adams treated my husband Earl and our son Emmanuel in Colorado Springs for 20 years and up until the time we relocated to Indiana.  He was so loving and caring.  A person who cared so much for his patients.  Sadly our beloved son Emmanuel 👼 passed away November 26, 2022. 🥲.   When notified of Dr. Adams passing it was another devastating blow in our lives🥲.  I remember Dr. Adams telling us the story of his wife where she said the only thing normal is the setting on your washing machine.  I will never forget the look on Emmanuel’s face where I could see the encouragement!  Dr. Adams RIP and you will never be forgotten 🙏

It is with shock and complete surprise and sadness that I was told by Christen Kutz of Dr. Adams passing in Jan of this year.  I usually come to see Dr. Adams and Christen in December and I was not informed of his passing when it happened.  I have been coming to Dr. Adams probably since 2011 or around that time.  My sister in law recommended him very highly because he was her Neurologist as well.  I remember how darn funny he was.  I use to tell him when he tested me for my neurological strength with MS to not be so easy on me.  I told him that he didn't really test my true strength.  After he heard me say that he tried to climb on me with his full body weight and it made me laugh so hard.  He went from very very gentle to pretending to wrestle me.  He had a great sense of humor that I will always remember.  He helped me when my sister in law died in 2013 of MS related problems. I also remember the time there was a power outage in the building when I had my appointment and Dr. Adams brought my husband and I into the conference room and we just laughed and joked around because he could not even use his computer or anything.  He always asked me where I was brought up and I told him Long Island, in New York and he told me he was from Pennsylvania.  I pray to the Lord that he is safe in Heaven and with Jesus and our Lord.  I can't imagine him not being around anymore.  It is so very sad!  I will surely miss him something awful.  May the Lord bless your soul Dr. Adams.

I just now read in the VMI Alumni Review about Jack passing from our world into the next. This comes as a shock to me and I do not have any words that I can think of or write down that will make the suffereing go away for all of his loved ones. I do have one story to share that may bring a smile to some folks.
Back in the early 90s I was the Aero Lab Director at the Air Force Academy and I had one Tech Sergeant who was a "problem child"! After a series of medical tests, Jack asked me to have lunch with him at the Academy Officer's Club so he could personally give me the "bad news" as he was the head neurological surgeon at the Air Force Academy. Once we got through our "chit chat" about VMI and the Air Force, Jack told me that my sergeant had "CGO" Disease! I was in shock! Here I was riding hurt on this guy for not pulling his weight around the lab and I thought he might have something terminal. Jack saw the shock on my face and he followed up with, "Can't Go On"! Jack said there was nothing pathologically wrong with the Tech Sergeant and that the young man simply didn't want to work! I thanked Jack and after that lunch meeting I immediately worked with the Dean of Faculty First Sergeant to start the process to have the Tech Sergeant discharged from the Air Force.
My love and prayers go out to Jack's family and friends. He will be missed!

Dr. Laurence treated my husband for a short time, and he definitely left an impression on us with his knowledge, kindness, and for the wonderful care and communication he showed us.

Dear Family of Jack,

I was saddened to learn of Jack's passing yesterday when I saw a long-standing patient of his at the VA in Aurora and he told me about Jack.  I was at the USAFA Hospital from 1991-1993 and Jack's office was directly across the hallway from mine.  He taught me some pearls in Neurology that I still use today.  I remembered his love for baseball, Sherlock Holmes, his patients, and his family.  Although I am still not very interested in baseball, Jack taught me that baseball strategies are what's interesting about the game.  I still have the plaque he gave me with a Sherlockian inscription on it when I left the military in 1993.

There was only one neurologist that I wanted my father to see a few years ago...Jack...so it was good to reconnect with him then.

My deepest condolences to Michelle, daughters, and extended family.  It was such a treasure seeing all your pictures.

I just found out about Dr Adams’ passing.  I am so very sad of his passing.  I was his patient since 1997.  I will always remember our last appointment as we laughed about how neither one of had aged.  Rest in Peace.

"Doc" Adams was my brother Davey Cowles's neurologist since about 1974. My dad met Doc Adams at the Air Force Academy and from that point on he was Davey's "Doc". He will be so very missed.

Just a really humble guy that was REALLY exceptional and loved people.

My friend Cory Claxton always says, “Greatness doesn’t need to be defined.”  Dr Adam’s was a great example of that.

Every time we would go see him we would wait at least an hour.

One time we had been waiting in our room after being seated for over an hour.  Eventually I stepped out of our room back into the lobby because it was half hour past business hours and wanted to make sure a) he was still coming and b) that we wouldn’t get locked inside the building.

I asked the nurses if our physician was still coming, they asked who we were seeing.. I said Dr Adam’s.  They replied, ”ohhh yess.. he’s still see you.”

15 minutes later he comes in and I ask how his day was going and he said,”wow, thanks for asking. Nobody ever asks me that..  it’s going ok.. kinda frustrated I’m so behind, but it’s my own fault.  I’ve been spending too much time with my patients.”

I said, ”Don’t ever apologize for caring about people Doctor.”

He proceeded to spend an hour with Elizabeth and I and when we finished he walked us to the receptionist and told them that he wanted to see me in three weeks.  He said “do whatever it takes, if I need to do a Saturday appointment or a 5:00 (they close at 3:30 and aren’t open on Saturday) whatever it takes I want to see him.

The receptionist eyes got real big and said “ooook.”

After he left I asked her, “he’s really busy isn’t he?”  She said,”you have nooooooo idea.”  I said tell me.

She explained that all the other doctors close their calendar when it’s at 100% capacity.  She then proceeded to show me his calendar for the upcoming  week.

Dr Adam’s left a huge impression on myself and my wife.  He was a light in every room he stepped into.  He loved people like Jesus did.  I look forward to seeing him in Heaven again someday and enjoying a baseball game together.

Dr Adams by far my favorite Dr. 
He was always patient, kind, compassionate, and understanding. Any time I was confused about anything he took the time I needed to understand. Any time I had a problem with anything he could help with he did so with so much empathy I went home feeling much better. The pain in his eyes any time a medication went wrong a also made me feel very cared for.  If i there was something he couldn’t help with he sweetly directed me to a resource that could help. I remember when he lovingly told me I really needed to find a Primary Care Physician. He will be missed and I will always think of him fondly.

I was a patient of Dr. Adams and grateful for his professional wisdom and compassion.  He wasn’t on the clock when he saw me.  We swapped Air Force stories and growing up in Pennsylvania.  He was deeply interested in my well being.  He was everything one could ever wish for in a physician and more.

I have been a longtime patient of Dr Adams. Before he was my Doctor he treated my Grandmother who I cared for. He is my favorite doctor in my team and I will miss him so much. During Covid we were doing telehealth appointments. I was using my telephone for our appointment. He asked me where I lived so I took him on a tour of the house and the view from my back deck. He would ask me about it at my next post-Covid, in person, appointments. “How’s life on the prairie?” He would ask. His personality was that of a very compassionate, caring, kind and empathetic doctor. His knowledge was vast. I trusted him with my life. He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I’m so sorry to hear of Dr. Adams passing, I only had the privilege of meeting with him once but he was the first neurologist that gave me hope and made me feel like he cared. He will truly be missed 

Eulogy - Part 3 - Beth Wittich, daughter, given at Dad's funeral on 2/4/2023
When my first son was born, Dad decided he wanted to be called Grandad. Samuel mixed up the sounds and started to call him “Dagra”. It stuck and my dad absolutely loved his new name. I am so very sad that my children will not have their Dagra there for them in every aspect of their lives like I was so blessed to have in mine. But for the years he was with them, he was fully there, just as he had been for me, – he went to the tee ball games and delighted in the Bible School and kindergarten performances. He took them mini-golfing, read them stories and sneakily gave them Reese’s peanut butter cups and milkshakes. He took days off work to go to the zoo and North Pole. He was at every single birthday party. He would’ve continued that and I am heartbroken that it will not be. There will be a missing spot at all these events that I know he would have taken great joy to be a part of. 
The part I will miss the most. Just him.  His presence. His care and love. His unending pride. Two days ago I sat here wondering what I was missing in this eulogy. Desperate to convey all the parts of my dad that I cherish the most. But then I realized that this eulogy will never end. And I never want it to. I will miss you, daddy, beyond all comprehension.  

Eulogy - Part 2 - Beth Wittich, daughter, given at Dad's funeral on 2/4/2023
The Electric Safari at the zoo became a long-standing tradition. The last text message I received from him was about our upcoming Feb 24 CC hockey tickets. He wrote "Glad we are going to get to do it. I look very much forward to my time with you."
My dad’s inner circle was exceptionally close. My mom, younger sister, our husbands, and, more recently, my two boys. We all gathered countless times for dinners, and the table was often filled with laughter. Lately, different birthdays were spent away at cabins in the mountains where we were fully together…playing games, reading, talking, and laughing.
As a parent you are told that it is important to “be there”. Dad was “there” for me and my sister. Through the big events in our lives like graduations and weddings and babies. But the little events too. Walks around the track talking about the day, listening and helping us with day-to-day decisions, encouraging us through challenges, and celebrating all victories…even the smallest ones.
Dad never stopped saying he was proud of me. It was at least a weekly occurrence. So often that my typical response was “I know”. But whenever he said it he had this look. The look that said – I mean this with all my heart. That I was his pride and joy.

Eulogy Part 1 - Beth Wittich, daughter, given at Dad's funeral on 2/4/2023
Hello. My name is Beth Wittich and I am Jack's daughter and the mother of his two grandsons, Samuel and David.
As a family we would like to thank you for being with us today. Through this difficult time we have been surrounded by love, support, and kindness. Thank you for demonstrating, by your presence, the impact that my dad had on the community of Colorado Springs.
Many of you here knew my dad as a neurologist. And he was a brilliant one. A physician who listened, built relationships, and was the epitome of compassion and care. He took a challenging problem and strove to find the answer. He continued to practice medicine because of the deep sense of responsibility he felt for his patients and colleagues. His job was difficult but the part he loved the most was walking in the exam room and being with his patients.
While the impact he made in his professional life was profound, his true legacy is his family. Today I want to give you a small insight into that side of my dad's life.
In amongst The Economist magazines and mystery novels, near my dad's favorite chairs, sat this maroon Bible. It was an ever present part of my parents' house. Dad's faith was quiet and true. Mom told me yesterday that he enjoyed reading in the book of Job. Job teaches us that we are to praise God even through the bad times. I am confident that my dad is with his Savior in heaven.
My Dad had an irreplaceable role in my life as confidante, mentor, and friend. He valued time and togetherness. Whenever I asked what gifts he wanted for his birthday or Christmas he would say “time with you”. So we went for walks and hikes, attended baseball and hockey games, watched productions of Mary Poppins and Guys and Dolls, had burgers and played at the penny arcade. There was the summer we went to frequent breakfasts together while this past fall it was coffee on Saturday mornings.

It is with a heavy heart that I read about this and my true condolences go out to his family.  Dr. Adams was a good soul that brought love and light to his patients when they needed him most. His positivity and smiles will truly be missed. 

My condolences to Dr. Adams' family and colleagues. This is such a tragic loss. Dr. Adams was my mother's neurologist at the recommendation of one of our neighbors. He was my favorite of all of the doctors we had to see after her stroke. He was patient and kind and put us at ease from the minute we met him. He loved knowing that my father was in the Marine Corps and that I was a docent at the zoo. He shared incredible stories with us at each visit. When my husband suffered what we thought was a TIA in early 2022, he happened to make an appointment with Dr. Adams for a follow-up. He remembered me and was so gracious. The world has lost an incredibly special person.

My messages keep disappearing?? He was my dr, my friend, he cared more for me than all my Drs put  together, he was the most caring, kind person, I just found out today, or I would of gone to his funeral  my prayers to his family, I’m crying and can’t stop, he’ll be missed so much and helped so many,  

I was a patient for the past 7 years, he was the best Dr I’ve ever had, and I’m 70, I had a stroke, 11 years ago, he was the only Dr, that send for my records from the hospital in Denver, he read them, talked to me about it, helped me understand, he was more than just my dr, he was a friend, , he was kind, caring, I just found out this morning, or I would of gone to his funeral, I’ve been crying all day, silly, I guess since I’m just a patient, but I cared about him, I miss him so much already, my prayers are with the family, my best friend, taco passed away last July, I told her to look out for him up in heaven bless all who knew him, , I was lucky to have him for my dr for the short amount of time, I had with him. , thank you Dr Adams

Dr. Adams truly cared for my dad, not just as a patient, but as a person. My dad and I trusted him so much because he always took the time to really listen. He will be missed greatly. Our condolences to his family. Thank you for sharing such a great man with us!

This is heartbreaking! Dr. Adams was the only doctor I could find that knew about my condition. Our last visit Jan 16th I expressed having my daughter on the 13th of November and he immediately said "I have to have this information for my wife, how much did the baby weigh, boy or girl and I don't know why but she always wants to know did the baby have hair?" Dr. Adams will be truly missed and I send my condolences and prayers to his family.  Thank you for sharing him with us, he was truly needed. May God cover you all with his comforter. 

This is my second attempt to write a condolence to Dr. Adams family.  I hope this one doesn’t  vanish as well.  
Heaven is a bit more heavenly now that Lawrence Adams is there. 
He was always friendly and affable, and ready to greet his patients.
Though I was his patient, he also developed a great friendship with my husband, a fellow military retiree. They enjoyed sharing “back in the brown shoe days“ stories, common acquaintances , and airplane stories.   I would wait patiently while the two old war horses would engage in “Remember When”  tales and adventures.  But when it was my turn, the doctor in Dr. Adams kicked in full scale, and I had his undivided attention.   He was both a friend and trusted physician and he will be missed greatly. 
Our prayers go out to his family. 


Truly one of the best doctors I ever had the privilege of seeing.  He was always sincere, compassionate and oh so full of knowledge!!  Prayers of comfort for his family.  ❤️🙏❤️

Dr. Adams was not only a great doctor but always took time with you, never rushing you through an appointment, and talking to you on a personal level.  He always had a smile and was always encouraging about my illness.  He was truly an exceptional man who will be deeply missed.

Dr Adams was a wonderful & compassionate Doctor. He listened carefully and did everything in his power to help me.  He welcomed me as his patient when Dr Brown retired. Dr. Adams was one of the best. He went above and beyond what most doctors would do just to help me. Dr. Adams found my tumor. Something I was feeling the symptoms of for years. Something that no other doctor found because they didn’t take my symptoms seriously, apparently due to my young age and overall good health at the time. 
Ever since then, he’s fought for me. He’s done everything he can to get me the best medical care possible and he’s always been in my corner. Not just for myself but my Mom also. 
I owe him so much, and I’m so thankful to have met him. He was a wonderful person in and outside the office, and it was an honor being his patient. 
Thank you Dr. Adams. You made a huge impact, not just in my life, but the lives of so many others! You’ll be forever missed. 

Our sincere condolences and prayers to the family! We are still trying to process in our minds about the news of Dr. Adams' sudden passing!  My husband, Tom,  has been a patient of his for 11 years.  We've never met another person like Dr. Adams nor will we ever! Such an amazing and brilliant mind, and yet able to be the first to diagnose and explain my husband's illness (Parkinson's Plus Syndrome, MSA) in the simplest of terms for one to understand.   My husband, also being minister, each time he had an appointment with Dr. Adams, not only would Dr. Adams discuss Tom's disease, he would ask Tom some deep biblical questions!  We will always be thankful to God that He made it possible for us to have Dr. Adams as Tom's neurologist! He was not only a neurologist, he was a true friend!  To the family, again, we are so very sorry and please know that you are remembered in our prayers!   

No words can express the feeling when losing a loved one, especially one as special as Dr Adams. 
He was truly one of a kind and the best Doctor I’ve ever had. 
He has treated me since 2010 and was always companionate, attentive and genuinely concerned about everything I ever had to say or with any new health concern I brought to him. He took time to listen and discuss everything with me and you can’t find that kind care anymore. He was truly a very caring man and it showed in every way. 
By the family photos I can see that he was a very good hearted man in his family life too and that just fills my heart with joy that his life was so complete. A wonderful man and a life cut too short. May God bless his family and surround them with love and the support they need during this time.  He will be deeply missed and I know I am truly blessed to have known him. 

So sorry to hear of Dr Adams passing. I was a patient of his and only seen him once but he left a big impression on me. What a loss for his friends, family, patients, and community . May the Lord give you peace at this time.

I am so saddened by hearing of his passing, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. God bless you and I am keeping you all in my heart and prayers as you are going through this loss. Mr Adam’s was my doctor, and he has changed my life so much. He was the first doctor to ever care for me and make me feel cared for. He was such a special person and had such a huge impact on me. He truly changed my life and my health. He will be greatly missed and greatly cherished always.

Dr. Adams was a brilliant Doctor and an amazing friend. He was the only Dr that did not just write Walter off after his stroke, He gave us hope. We will be forever grateful. We are so sad to hear of his passing and pray God wraps His arms around all of you and holds you close.

My wife Christine Florek, his Parkinson’s patient, and I first met Dr. Adams 8 years ago. As I was driving home from the service on Saturday, I began reflecting on the service, on the eulogies delivered by friends and family, as well as on the comments left on Dignity Memorial by friends and patients. He was all those things and more. He was a friend who held your hand as you walked along that difficult journey of life. You will be missed, Jack. God bless you and keep you.

I was a patient of his and am sorry for his loss.   He was compassionate, brilliant and a great man.   One of the brightest people I've met in my life.   It's a shock he's gone, I called in today to make an appointment when I learned of his passing.

Dr. Adams was amazing with me and my Dad after his stroke. He was kind, patient and wanted to give us hope even though we knew Dad wasn't going to improve. Dad and I were very greatful for his care.

I didn't know Jack very well, however we were able to connect over a mutual admiration for the Baltimore Orioles. As a Maryland native, I loved hearing Jack's story about walking and talking with Orioles Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson as he  made his way over to old Memorial Stadium to play another game. He will be missed. My prayers and condolences go out to the family. 

My Heart is Broken. I’m stunned. My sincere condolences for your loss. Jack stepped in and helped me when no one else could and everyone else gave up. I was nearly unable to function at all. No memory. Couldn’t drive. Barely could walk. He gave me my life back. I’ve done  a lot since then including publishing in a national journal. He had skills far beyond others and was always pursing more knowledge. He cared about his work and his patients. I considered him my friend for life. My thoughts are with you and I’m so glad you had that good man in your life,

Dr Adams was kind, gentle, compassionate, and full of joy. To his patients, he was a beacon of hope. God used him in a powerful way. He rejoiced with me when I rejoiced, and mourned with me when I was hurting. He truly was an example of actions that speak louder than words. He will surely be missed.  

Heaven gain an amazing man! I was blessed and grateful to have Dr. Adams as my neurologist for the past 20 years. He was always a breath of fresh air the minute he walked in the room. May he rest in paradise! 


My daughter and I are heartbroken to learn of Dr Adams passing. We were honored to know him over the many years he treated my daughter’s TBI. Dr Adams always treated us with genuine caring and compassion. He even pulled me aside to inquire about how I was coping as a long term caregiver.  His intelligence and expertise can only be surpassed by his huge heart and dedication to his patients.  Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Dr Adams will be greatly missed.

Dr Jack Adams was a blessing in my life. I was lucky to serve with him at the Air Force Academy Hospital from 1992-1996. I was an AF Nurse assigned to the Medical-Surgical floor. All patients of Dr Adams were admitted to my floor. He was a mentor, excellent educator and brilliant Neurologist.  He respected the opinions and information from his fellow physicians, the Nurses, the Med Techs et al. Using his stealth Baseball team Captain skills, Jack made All members of the staff believe we were all important members of his team!
He knew that it takes a team to get the best outcomes for his patients. I respected him for his leadership, his excellent patient relationships and his brilliant mind.  Dr Adams and his beloved wife and daughters honored me by attending my wedding at the Air Force Academy Chapel in 1994. 

My father retired to Texas and after his first visit with Dr Adams…he moved to the Springs to be his patient. Then I became his patient, too.  He has been a Blessing in my life for 30 years!  To Dr Adam’s Beloveds: Michelle you were the love of his life! The Love & Joy you gave him allowed him to give energy & love to his patients for 41 years! You and the Gift of The Holy Spirit sustained him to give so much to his patients! And he told me he loved being a father to daughters…
Beth and Laura he loved you so very much. His face would glow speaking of how lucky he was…how he loved his wife & daughters…his Beloved girls! My sincere condolences to his girls, sons in love, mother, siblings, cousins, friends and patients!
That Rare Green Comet in the sky of late exemplifies Dr Adams…Brilliant, rare, a Joy…he his showering us with LOVE.

I am not surprised to see the number of lives that Jack touched. He was such an impressive individual. I always enjoyed talking with him about baseball and hearing the story about how he became an Astros fan.
But the uniqueness was his love of caring for his patients. We shared many difficult patients and he was humble as he would explain why he thought of a diagnosis and how he went about diagnosing and treating these individuals. 
This is a tremendous loss for our community. 

The loss of Dr Adams is a tough one. I am sorry to his family mourning this unexpected loss. He was such an intelligent and devoted  man.  Although he knew everything about neurology from what we could tell, he often questioned why one thing or another was happening…”Well, see, the question is….” (Ill never forget this) He ALWAYS wanted to know more and never stopped learning and teaching. He knew all the fun facts and trivia about baseball.  He loved his family dearly. I remember when his first grand baby was born. He was over the moon with excitement!  Having worked at CSNA for 6 years, knowing Jack was a true gift. He deeply loved for his patients and his family. He cared for his employees and their lives outside of work. I saw him just a few weeks ago and he reminded me that I’m still part of “the CSNA family” and I will forever cherish these words.  He was unique and special and he will be missed very much. 

My husband & I’s hearts are broken. Dr Adams became my doctor in 2010 when he diagnosed me with MS, and he became my husbands doctor in 2015 when he diagnosed my husband with Parkinson’s.  Dr Adams was so kind and we loved to hear his stories. He never rushed us and was always interested in what, and how we were doing. Recently, at my husbands first appointment for his DBS programming, Dr. Adams popped in, even though the appointment wasn’t with him. He just wanted to check to see how things were going and do his own exam. As he walked out the door, he stopped, looked at me and quietly mouthed “how are you doing”?  My husband & I felt so blessed to be his patients and he will be deeply missed by us.

I, having been diagnosed with MS in 1988, have seen numerous neurologist around the country because of moving from Texas, to Oklahoma, to New Hampshire, to California, and landing in Colorado Springs. They ALL were brilliant but Dr Adams was approachable with a genuine personality and care unlike any of the others. My husband always came to my appointments with me and so enjoyed each visit with Dr Adams. They would banter about things as Dr Adams did his examination.  I am so very sad to hear of his passing. We loved you Dr Adams. 

I had the wonderful pleasure to get to know Dr. Adams  over the years as a pharmaceutical rep. I always looked forward to catching up with him.  I loved our conversations on economics, how the medical industry had changed so much over time and most of all learning about his incredible family. He was a wonderful physician, person and friend.  It is a true loss to the community. My condolences to all who mourn this terrible loss.  May his memory be a blessing.  I will miss you friend!

As a patient of Dr. Adams, I always looked forward to every visit. He had a predictable grace about him. He always greeted you with a warm smile and a poise that signaled he wanted to talk with you before he discussed any medical issues. I often felt each visit was walking back in time as his dignity and gentlemanliness was of a bygone era. His unhurried pace was a way of saying you are worth extra minutes. Sometimes we wandered down conversational trails of mutual discovery. His tousled hair disguised his orderly mind. I often sat in wonder as he patiently explained the complex mechanisms that he was intimately familiar but never even a hint of condescension. Each visit was a transaction of sorts. I brought with me my neurological issues and lots of questions. But I left grateful that I had spent time with a man whose mind and heart were equally large.

I met Dr. Adams through my mother and observed the excellent, compassionate, and considerate care he provided for her. After my father died, I began accompanying her on her visits, as I had relocated to Colorado Springs. In need of a neurologist, Dr. Adams agreed to see me as well, treating me with the same amount of care and concern. He quickly became my favorite doctor, and my mother and I both looked forward to our "visits" with Dr. Adams, which felt less like medicine, and more like a chat with an old friend once we got the medical part out of the way. My hands shook when I received the call he passed, and after reading through these many condolences, I see how significant his impact was on the Colorado Springs community. Dr. Adams was beloved by many. My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Adams family, friends, and colleagues. He was a gem of a man, and I am grateful to have known him.

Thanks to all of you who have shared memories and reflections on the impact that Jack has had on our lives. 
I have been privileged to have known Jack for about 30 years. It was always a joy to talk about life, our mutual patients, neurology, neuroradiology and family with Jack.  We challenged and encouraged each other. We talked several times each month and those discussions were often the highlight of my week.  He was a neurologist with both feet in the classical method of “the neurological exam” who carefully evaluated technical innovations and bemoaned the creeping dehumanization of the medical field. He made every attempt to keep it personal. 
I will miss him with every passing day.

My husband and I both had the pleasure of having Dr. Adams as our neurologist. It was great to finally get the medication I needed on my first visit as I had seen other Drs.  None had the sense of humor and bedside manner. My husband saw him the morning of the day Dr. Adams went to be with our Lord.  It is a blessing to know how many people he had helped. Our thoughts and prayers have been for his family.

Michelle, my heart breaks for you. Jack was the most amazing neurologist. He was kind, empathetic, available and generous. He was the go to neurologist for my entire cardiology specialty. Tragic that he was taken so soon for you. But please know how deeply he was loved by the medical community. 

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Adams was a very kind human being. I used to accompany members to his office when I worked in a group home. He was exemplary and treated everyone the same. He was a Baobab in the field of Neurologists. He will be greatly missed.

To me, Jack was my beloved Step Father Peter's Best Friend.  His sudden death has deprived both me and the world of things priceless.  I didn't get to know him as well as I would have liked, but I miss him terribly and hope that in sharing your pain, I have divided it somehow.  May silvery memories replace pain's dark night.

I was deeply saddened to hear the news that Doctor Adams had passed on. I have had many good conversations over the 23 years he was my Neurologists. He would always tell me that I was one of his worse patients because though he knew that I had both Parkinson's and Huntington Disease he could not figure out how to treat both at once.

Dear Adams family, I am so very sorry for your loss.  Dr. Adams has been my neurologist for the past 9 years.  He was the one doctor that I knew I could count on to take care of me.  He always, always was able to make me feel safe and that no matter what he would figure it out.  After I had another stoke in December, I saw him on Jan. 19th and he was amazing as always.  Over the years of appointments, he always told me how much he loved his family and how proud he was of all of you. Losing Dr. Adams as a doctor and a friend is devastating to my husband and myself and we are so sorry for your loss. We grieve along with you. I began seeing Dr. Adams 26 years ago for Psuedo Tumor Cerebrai and he did 8 spinal taps on me. It was much less painful than having it done by the machine. He made it endurable. I continued to keep him up on the swelling of my optic nerve that  it caused. I Then was treated by him form a moderate TBI suffered while cycling. He got me on a seizure med for my epilepsy And I learned from him that I had a birth defect. The left back lobe of my brain had atrophied due to an injury during  a difficult birth. After that I saw him for an illness no other doctor could figure out. He looked at me and said “I can see right now you’ve got Parkinson’s... Dr. Adams was truly a kind and compassionate man and  we will miss him greatly

My husband and I felt so fortunate when we met Dr. Adams last year. After almost a year of searching for answers, Dr. Adams was recommended to us .what a wonderful man he was ; kind, caring, and a great listener. Within a short amount of time he gave my husband the diagnosis of Parkinson’s and ordered several definitive tests. We also made a connection between the college he went to in Virginia, Virginia military institute, and found out that he was in the same class as my cousin.  Dr. Adams was so personable. Every time we saw him, he would say, always have time for the VMI connection! We will miss him so much.

It has been a privilege and honor to work and know Dr. Adams.  Infusing your pts for over 6 years I have witnessed your genuine compassion and the tenacity you have for your patients. Incredibly intelligent.  Such a tremendous loss to so many people.  You will be missed.  

My prayers and thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.  He was my handicapped son’s Doctor when he was in the Air Force and then in private practice for over 30 years.  He was the most compassionate doctor.  He wasn’t just concern  about my son he always asked how I was doing.  He would always  take his time with us and would value what I had to say.   He will be greatly missed by us.  He was one of the most intelligent person I have ever seen, and I have been in the medical field for over 45 years.

Dr Adams was one of my favorite people. I called on him as a pharmaceutical rep and always enjoyed our banter. He was a compassionate physician and a true gentleman. I’m so sorry for his loss. What an amazing man. He walked with me as I went through my personal and medical challenges in life. He was more than a doctor to me, but also a great friend. He always tried to convince me that I was a good golf player. He loved telling me "dad" jokes but he would so often be there for me in the midst of my hard times in life. What a role model! What a great friend! I will miss him!!

Oh, Dr. Adams -- how you will be missed. You left us all too soon. My deepest condolences to all of your family who were so fortunate to have you in their life -- your wife, daugthers, grandchildren and brother. And I'm sure you were a delight to raise as a child. 

I met Dr. Adams around 1999 when he took care of my parents. I always looked forward to coming in with my dad to see Dr. Adams as he was so kind and helpful educating me about Parkinson's Disease, so that I could be a good advocate for my parents. I was always grateful my parents were under his watchful care and treated to his kind spirit.

When I needed a neurologist three years ago, I knew without thinking, you were the guy to see. Thank you for your care and working to decipher the changes I was facing. I so appreciated how you respected my intellect and my unending curiosity to understand what was happening to me. I loved having discussions with you about medical advances, research studies, and just whatever happened to come up that day to chat about. Little did I think when I walked out of your office on January 10th, I would not see you again. For that, my heart aches. I will definitely steal second plus I hope to round the other bases and score some more runs.

CSNA’s 50th anniversary.  No one loved CSNA more than Dr. Adams.  

A devastating loss for the Colorado Springs community, Dr. Adams' patients, friends, and most of all his family.  Words cannot express the sadness, nor the gratitude for all he gave to me as a patient over the years.

I had the privilege of knowing Jack Adams as a colleague,  mentor, and friend for  more than three decades.  Our shared experience began when we were both on the medical staff at the Air Force Academy hospital and continued after we both transitioned to civilian medical practice in Colorado Springs.  When, as I often did, I consulted him regarding a patient, he would always take time from his busy schedule to reply personally. His advice was insightful, clear, and helpful. When needed, he kindly arranged to see the patient promptly.  He always ended each of our conversations with a question, "And how are you doing?" Jack clearly saw his work as a physician as more than a job; to him it was a calling.  Jack displayed a kind and gracious spirit that reflected how much he  genuinely cared about people.  His was a life well lived.


I was stunned when I learned of Jack's sudden passing. My wife had Jack as her neurologist (MS) since 2001. I viewed Jack as a friend who just happened to be an amazing, brilliant and caring neurologist - he even treated a gorilla at the Cheyenne Zoo, his comment was "they smell really bad" and probably his only patient with an assistant holding a shotgun. I fully agree with all that has been said as this is exactly what we experienced; he totally knew his patients and deeply cared about all he encountered. Over the years I’d run into Jack and Michelle at Ted’s Montana Grill – a favorite of theirs. Jack would ask how Deborah was doing. Then Michelle would ask about our dogs and dog shows she so loves. There is sadness in the hearts of Jack's family, all who knew him and his patients, and the loss of what I considered a friend. I hope good memories of Jack encompass all when the sorrow hits. The world was a much better place with Jack who is now a guardian angel watching over us. 

My mother was a patient of his for 7 years, when every other neurologist had no answers he gave us hope. Over those 7 years he gave her life back to her. I will never forget when he told me he wasn’t giving up. He never gave up on his patients and my family will forever be grateful. He will be incredibly missed. 

Dr. Adams helped to give me life after beneign brain tumor removed. Thank you, Lord, for Dr. Adams n his care.  My condolences to his wife, children n grandchildren. God was so good to quide Dr. Adams with his care n service for n to me n many others. Once in a lifetime medical doctor given by God. Thank you. So very blessed to have his care n know him. Honor n respect..

He was a kind considerate man and I am going to miss him!

I’m so sorry for his wife and children. Doctor Adams is the only doctor I’ve ever had that I actually felt he truly cared about me as I’m sure all his patients did. I just saw him and I will truly miss this kind and caring person. 

We will miss you Dr Adams. Your guidance and compassion will be difficult to replace. I will never forget you coming to see Evelyn after she had heart surgery. You didn’t need to and it wasn’t your responsibility, but you did. 
  You always tried to help Evelyn get better and took it as a personal responsibility. 

YOU WILL TRULY BE MISSED. 
I didn't get you know you like everyone has at CSNA, but the little time that I have you were truly a Doctor made in heaven for these patients. May you fly your wings and watch over you beautiful family and CSNA family. 

Dr. Adams was not only a great neurologist but a great friend. I had been a patient of his for over 25 years. I was saddened to see him retire from the Air Force but was glad to see him again at Colorado Springs Neurological Associates. He loved talking to me about his family and especially about being a grandpa.  At our last visit he told me how he came upon his decision to become a neurologist. He loved his job so much. He truly cared about his patients. Dr. Adams will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family.

So sorry for your loss. Dr Adams treated me for chronic migraines and gave me my life back! A true gentleman that cared and I will forever be grateful!

Jack, It has been such a long time since I've seen you. I remember your graduation from med school in DC. You told us that the main speaker at your graduation was the same prof who welcomed your class 4 years before.  I remember calling you Jack-Jack and how we shared an interest in reading Nancy Drew books. I am happy for you that you reached your careers goals but you are definitely gone too soon.

My heart hurts for your Mom (my aunt) and your brothers and sisters, and your family in Colorado.

I was blessed to have been a patient of Dr. Adams for 18 years. 
At my last visit he remarked that when he thinks of me, he is reminded of the Energizer bunny because I just keep going and going in spite of my difficulties. It is this compassionate and brilliant practitioner who is responsible for my staying power. He went to great lengths to diagnose and treat my rare condition. Time spent with him felt like a visit with an old friend instead of a doctor's appointment. I always took a paperback with me to read as I waited. He would inquire of the title and then suggest others. We often compared notes on Bible Studies , as well.
My condolences to his family and loved ones. May you feel the Lord's comfort and strength as you mourn, while rejoicing in knowledge that some day you will be together in Heaven.
