Retired Senior Master Sergeant Larry Gene Ross--beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather--has gone fishing with his friend and Savior, Jesus Christ, in that great lake in the sky. Larry took many fishing trips, teaching family and friends the intricacies of catching fish. His passion for life was infectious. His good nature showed in his straight-faced storytelling, often accompanied by a mischievous twinkle in his eye. He taught us to be adventurous and to stand for what we believe. He lived by the principle, “If we do nothing, who will?” He was a man of strong beliefs who forgave easily. He is greatly missed by his wife, 5 children, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, beloved sister, nephews and nieces.
Larry was born in Poplar Bluffs, Missouri, to Viola and Orville Ross. He had two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, his son and daughter. He lived in St. Charles, MO, and attended St. Charles High School. He joined the Air Force in 1962 and was sent to Colorado Springs where he fell in love with the town. After a tour in Vietnam and a few other duty stations, he joined the Air Force Reserves. He made Colorado Springs his home for over 50 years. Larry was a true entrepreneur, opening Action Auto Glass, which he was dedicated to until he retired in 2012 to pursue full-time fishing.
Larry was involved in his community, his church, Gideons International, and Fishing Has No Boundaries. He was politically minded and was actively involved with campaigns for the Republican Party.
