Katherine A. Greene, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on April 24, 2021 at the age of 96 years.
She was born February 14, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Soren and Anna Vereide. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1943. At the age of 22 she and her best friend Gloria decided to venture to Colorado. They got jobs at the Exchange National Bank, met their future husbands at the roller skating rink, Skateland, and remained lifelong friends.
Although her marriage ended in divorce, she successfully raised three children by herself—teaching us to work before you play, be wise with your money and to be honest above all.
Her interests were craft shows, walking with the First Lutheran Church group, being a member of the Ruth Circle, the color blue and CHOCOLATE! She had many friends over the years and always enjoyed birthday breakfasts and lunches out. She appreciated the simple things in life—oh and did we say CHOCOLATE?
She is survived by her children Teresa (Kevin) Brown and Roger Greene, her granddaughter Leah (Vince) Pizii, great grandchildren Ethan and Emily. Grandson Brook Brown, great grandchildren Marcus and Cedric and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and daughter Barbara.
Services will be at Evergreen Cemetery on May 6, 2021 at 10:00 am.
Thanks for the excellent care from Pikes Peak Hospice in her final months/days.
In Lieu of flowers, consider giving to the First Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s organization in her honor.
