Jim was born on August 6th, 1963 in Malvern, AR and died on June 7th, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jim is survived by his Ex-Wife Angela Garcia, daughters, Nycole McCollum and Asia Curtis, grandkids Aspen Chapman, Callie Curtis and Connor Curtis, and his brother Jerry Weatherred. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Garcia, dad, Ricky Garcia and brother James James Weatherred. He is also survived by his beloved bird, Summer and dog, Rosie.
Jim graduated from Flippin High School in 1980 and graduated from University of Phoenix in 2000.
Jim honorably served in the US Army from November 1985 until December 2015 and was honorably discharged. Jim was stationed at Ft. Sill, Ft. Riley, Bamberg and Dexheim Germany, Ft. Carson and Federal Center in Denver. He served in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and enduring Freedom. He also served a year and a half in Saudi Arabia as a consultant to the Saudi Arabian Army Reserves. In addition, Jim worked at Lumen from 2000 until his death.
Jim loved being active. He climbed Pikes Peaks multiple times along with other 14'ers, ran the Colfax 1/2 Marathon, hiked regularly and was always up for a fun 5k. His greatest love was scuba diving. He dove, in Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, Utila, Bonaire, Galapagos Islands and the Red Sea. He loved Colorado and all that it offered for outdoor activities.
Jim was always ready to help out someone in need, whether he knew you or not. If he saw something that needed to be done, he would jump into action. He has such a kind and giving heart. Jim will always be known for his corny dad jokes and infectious laugh. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, on any subject and could converse for hours on end.
Jim will be deeply missed by all that loved him.
