It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Isabel Chavela Garcia, 90, on November 30, 2024. Isabel’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and community, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on October 14, 1934, Isabel devoted her life to her family, faith, and service to others. After a dedicated career, she retired from Hewlett-Packard. She also gave generously of her time, volunteering many years with Catholic Charities of Central Colorado, where her commitment to helping those in need earned her the prestigious Spirit of Service Award.
Isabel had a deep love for Colorado and the outdoors, often finding peace and joy while camping amidst the natural beauty of the mountains. She also cherished simple pleasures, like playing bingo, which brought her laughter and cherished memories with friends and family. Her culinary talents were legendary, especially her homemade tortillas, enchiladas, and salsa, which brought everyone together around the table.
Isabel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Garcia, and her son, Juan Garcia. She is survived by her daughter, Yolanda Garcia; her grandson, Gerry Garcia; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Alyssia Garcia-Vandervort, Angelo Garcia, and Dominic Garcia. Isabel’s warmth, selflessness, and enduring faith will remain in the hearts of all who loved her.
A celebration of Isabel’s life will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 2715 E Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. The Rosary prayer service will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Funeral, 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. After the burial, family and friends are invited to return to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for a reception and food.
