She was born in Furth im Wald, Germany. The second of six children born to the late Ferdinand and Helena Gross. She attended her schooling in her homeland. She married her husband Paul Cordial as he was serving in the US Army stationed in Germany. Within a few years she left Germany to accompany her husband; leaving beloved family and friends behind. But through the years were joined by siblings and visits from her parents.
She loved to travel, cook and bake. There was nothing that came out of her kitchen that was not delectable. Holidays were extremely important to her as her house was filled with goodies and vibrant colors that touched every room. Always a fresh pot of coffee and homemade baked goods awaited her guests on a clean crisp ironed tablecloth and a bouquet of flowers in a crystal vase. No doubt, one that she had needlepointed in years passed.
She was a kind woman. Always had a heart to help someone less fortunate. She used to say, I remember the hard times. One should never forget where you come from. She didn't. She worked for Continental Airlines for 15 years. When the layoffs occurred, she took to taking care of babies to pay her mortgage. She was proud to say I paid off a 30 year mortgage in 7 years! She was a fighter to a tee. Loving and always present. Hawaii was her dream destination and she traveled there many times over the years.
She was married to her husband for 20 years before he passed away on May 14, 1975. She had 3 daughters, Janie (Gene) Edwards of Colorado Springs, Colorado who preceded her in death in 2016. Annamarie Long of Maumelle, Arkansas and Cathleen (Steve) O'Brien of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She had 6 grandchildren Jennifer, Carolyn, Joshua, Matthew, Jacob and Caleb. And 5 great-grandchildren Chauncey, Harlow, Liam, Beckham and Matteson. Later on through the years Ed became her companion. They traveled the world and grew to enjoy life together. Ed passed away in 2015 after a relationship that lasted 33 years. Her beloved longhaired dachshund (Wolfy) preceded her in death. Her only sibling that remains is her sister Ernestine (Horst) Schultz of Louisville, Colorado. She leaves dear family and friends behind who were cherished in her eyes. A legacy of love and cherished memories fill our thoughts. She will be buried with her husband Paul at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM.
