Henry George Vasquez was born February 21, 1952 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Joe Alvino Vasquez & his wife Theresa Rivera Vasquez. He passed away on May 9, 2011 as the result of a car crash at the age of 59.
Henry was one of eight children. At an early age Henry showed himself to be a good student who liked to draw. He was especially good at drawing houses. This talent would serve him well as an adult.
Henry graduated from Ellicott High School in 1970. On July 18, 1972, he married Louise Wyatt. They moved to Texas where Henry proudly served his country in the Marines. He received an honorable discharge in 1978.
He and Louise returned to Colorado Springs where he entered the construction business. He was an astute business man and formed his own company, Eastern Colorado Builders, with a clear vision of how he was going to grow and be successful in the business world. Henry saw a niche in the construction business he could fill and his vision became reality. In 1995, he received national recognition as the Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year, Region VIII .
Henry loved his family, the Denver Broncos, his guitar, hunting, fishing and camping. If he could combine them all, he was very happy. This led to many family trips and it did not really matter whether his boys were five or twenty five. He was excited when he could take them to a Broncos game, hunting or fishing. While Henry was raised in the Catholic Church, in later years he was involved with his family in several different Bible believing churches, having personally received Christ when he was in his 30s. Henry is survived by his wife, Louise, his three sons, Ben and his wife Catherine, Nathan and his wife Noelle, and Dan. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Montoya and Dorothy Vigil (husband Marvin); and his brothers Frank and Reubel (wife Myrla) and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers Kenneth, Victor and Thomas.
A time for remembrance will be observed from 9:00am to 10:00 am with a 10:00 am service at Memorial Gardens Monday May 23, 2011. Interment will follow at Calhan Cemetery.
