Henry joined the US Army in October 1974. He completed BCT in Fort Jackson, SC and then spent the majority of his military career in Germany. He landed in Fort Sill, OK for a short period of time, but he ultimately retired in October 1994 in Fort Carson, CO. Following his career in the US Army, he found himself working in Law Enforcement with the CO Department of Corrections, Youth Division. After completing a second career, he then found a passion in being an entrepreneur and worked as an independent contractor installing and servicing HVAC units.
He loved his wife and children more than life itself. He bragged about his family to anyone and everyone who would listen. Henry enjoyed story telling and humorously enough and for quite some time his grandchildren believed he was a vampire from the Mayflower. He enjoyed classics such as Star Trek, Star Wars, old westerns with John Wayne, and martial arts movies with Bruce Lee. His hobbies included fishing, bowling, working on cars and absolutely loved cooking. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #473 of Colorado Springs and was also a long-time member of Junior N. Gleen Lodge # 135 of the 12th Masonic District. Henry was an attendee at New Life Church for many years and recently began attending True Spirit Baptist Church where he intended on becoming a permanent member.
Henry married Trish Stevens on March 21,1991 in Colorado Springs, CO. Throughout their 32 years, she has been the absolute love of his life. They enjoyed taking long drives, music, dancing, and spending time together.
Henry is survived by his family: Michelle Stevens (daughter), Savanna Whatley (granddaughter), Elijah Whatley (grandson), Jesiah Stevens-Silva (grandson), Roman Whatley (great grandson), Madden Whatley (great-grandson); Kevin Stevens (son), Vanessa Wilkerson (granddaughter); Savoya Lovick (daughter), Anthony D. Jones Jr. (grandson), Cierra N. Jones (granddaughter), Justin C. Jones (grandson), Jurnee Shelby (great granddaughter), Ryan Hendrix (great granddaughter), Amaria Kennedy (great granddaughter); Shon Jones (son), Zaquavian Smith (grandson), NeQuodric Whitefield-Jones (grandson), Izayha Patterson (grandson), Zaire Smith (great grandson), Zariel Smith (great granddaughter); and Ron Jones (son).
His marriage to Trish brought additional blessings: Lisa Bowers-McCathen (daughter) and Kelci McCathen (granddaughter).
He will be missed by his siblings: Betty J. Cone, Bennie M. Tremble, Frances Walker, Katrina Jones, Gayle Lang, Susan Johnson, Beatrice Boatwright, Anthony Stevens, Lee Garret Stevens, and Richard Stevens.
Henry was preceded in death by Trish Stevens (wife), Brunette Smith (sister), Margaret Stevens (mother), and Henry E. Stevens (father).
