Helen (Keller) Schoenthaler, 79, passed away Friday, July 13, at her home surrounded by those she loved. She was born and raised in Ellis, Kansas, where she met and married the love of her life, Darrell, in 1954. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1963 and have lived on the West-side since that time.
Helen is survived by her husband, Darrell, their son, Rick (Penny), and their daughter, Koleen (Pat) O'Keefe. Grandchildren Melanie, Jerod, Kathryn and Colton, great-grandchildren Matthew and Madison, 5 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren also survive her. Her grandson, Phillip, preceded her in death at the age of 7.
She volunteered countless hours for their church and loved quilting, both for the church and for her family; however, her biggest joy in life was her family who she always put first. Helen was a loving, faithful, generous and caring soul who will be deep-ly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service celebrating Helen's life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 1128 E. Boulder St., on Thursday, July 19 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Leukemia/Lymphona Society or to Grace Lutheran Church.
