Harold Edward Bettes II, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away May 15th, 2021 in his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Monahans, Texas, March 13th, 1943 to the late Harold E Bettes and Ada Jewell. The first of two children, Harold graduated from Permian High School in 1961. Continuing his education as well as working in the oil fields of the Permian Basin, it was during this time that Harold also developed a lifelong interest and love of engineering and motorsports. In 1966 Harold put his interests on hold to serve his country honorably in the US Army.
Harold always took pride in his ability to teach and mentor others in all aspects of motorsports. He was an inspiration to many people and freely shared his wealth of knowledge to anyone who sought his advice. As a result, many records were broken and horsepower was increased. His passing leaves a large void in the industry and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Paula, his loving children Marisa (Jim), Harold "Trey" (Becky), Travis (Natalie) and 6 beautiful grandchildren (soon to be 7), Riley, Klayton, Harold IV, Jace, Annalee, William and Memphis, his sister Myndi and nieces Amanda and Allyson.
